You have a nice young roster Your trainees especially look good. You may want to see if you can develop them into more of a power forward types by doing one on one forward training to improve JS/Hand/Driv. Or doing some pressure/passing training if you have some easy games.

About your stadium, I agree it is probably holding you back from being able to dominate Div 4. Try to stay in the cup as long as possible next season to earn extra cash. Then consider your options, either selling a few of your older players and staying out of relagation or going for a title. Most likely you will probably only have option 1.

Oh BTW you could try another option. If your centers are skilled enough, you may push for a lot of center training for next season if you are going for a title run. This will make them shoot up in salary after the season. However, you will benefit from having a cheap/better player. Then you can sell him after the season. Something to consider.

BTW Turtle,

What is your plans for your team? I hope you get some good draft picks Are you planning to have an all home grown team? I see you haven't used transfers...

To me I like to use transfers to try and earn some side cash, but in a lot of cases its just a waste lol. But it does offer some side fun during the season.

Also I am doing some side studies on my players. I am going to monitor the cost of the player over a lifetime (cost to train/cost per season/cost to aquire/cost to draft). Something interesting to look at. Obviously starters are normally going to cost more overall but it might be fun to see season over season.

What are my plans for my team? I'm not entirely sure. I got banned for multi-accounting the last time I played, which sucked because it meant I lost not one but several promising teams, but it gave me valuable managing experience and training experience in training all types of different players and experimenting with different builds. I know I like the training aspect of this game almost more than winning, but I need to win and promote to be able to afford to buy and train the most interesting and unique high-level players. I like the idea of building around players I draft, but I recognize that I just wouldn't have time to train every important player for a moderately successful D.III-caliber team or higher.

I guess if I had to come up with concrete goals, they might be something like this:

Short-term (3-4 seasons)
1. Save up money and put all available money into the arena
2. Get to D.IV
3. Train and own a U21 player

Long-term (5+ seasons)
1. End arena goal: 15000 bleacher, 5500 lower tier, 500 courtside, 50 luxury box
2. Get to D.II
3. Train and own a NT player

Team philosophies
1. Always run neutral or outside-oriented offense (go against the flow, no LI or LP for me)
2. Train primarily SF/PF type players unless I draft an elite guard prospect
3. Stay all-American
4. Experimenting > winning, as long as I'm still having fun (hence the outside-oriented offense)

Transfers can be a great way to earn fast money, but I'm working a lot IRL and also tanking to take advantage of the non-existent salary floor during the first sixteen weeks, so I haven't had time or frankly motivation to scour the TL for suitable bargains. And like you said, it can be just a waste.

Woohoo! No tankers in my Div this season.

Looks like I will be challenging for a title in Season 24!

Time to beef up my roster!

Newbie Guide to training:
First of all get the spreadsheet downloaded called the training simulator. Figure out how the numbers work for age/height.

Effective Training:
You want a level 4 trainer. You don't need anything beyond that.
Train one on one Guards or Forwards when you have 2-3 trainees you want to build your team around (draftees hopefully). Add more trainees to soak up extra minutes.

Why is one on one forwards or guards optimal?
1) Height doesn't really matter
2) Its the fastest training method
3) You can train up to 6 players
4) Its a salary efficient method of training (handling/driving does not cost much salary)
5) Handling and IS are good skills to get elastic effect going quicker
6) You get a better amount of training points which means more effective cross training

Why one on one forwards may be better than one on one guards?
Forwards are usually the most expensive players to find for their salary. Therefore, having trainees soak up those minutes while other players use the more optimal positions means a better overall team for the salaries.
Why one on one guards may be better than one on one forwards?
For taller players, handling trains better at guard. Also JS trains more effectively, while IS can be trained via the center position. For shorter players one on one forwards is usually optimal.

What if my players don't need handling/driving anymore? Well then you probably want to switch to one position training depending on how tall your players are This is a newbie guide so advanced trainees aren't really available.

I'm not so sure I agree with that. I think bleacher sales depress lower tier sales only at 20,000+ seats. Which means Div1 or Div 2 squad concerns.

Eventually you can get to that capacity, but more importantly its better to concentrate on getting to higher divisions. Because anyway, its hard to sell more than 2500 lower at div 4. So if the seats are empty anyway...

I'd be more worried about what sort of players I have on my team once I get to like 0-10% of low price for seating at lower/court/box and winning titles.

So here is my long-term strategy for my roster/arena:

DivIV: Go for broke this season to win the title. Do not add to the arena until the playoffs have started.
Div III Season 1: Build my arena early and often until I reach minimum pricing for lower tier. Reduce my roster depth-injuries may be a concern but having a team that can win every game is no longer needed.
Div III Season 2: Evaluate if I will be able to win a title based on economy and current roster. If so do as I did in Div 4 and go for a title. If not, hoard cash to eventually win in season 3.
Div II Season 1: Finish off my arena.

Roster Details:
Until I get to Div II rely heavily on aged players (32+) for my starting rotation with my one pos or two pos trainees filling the roster.
Once I have my arena fully built in Div II (which now means extra cash goes to my roster), start adding uncapped youngsters to my homegrown trainees who should now be in the 23-25 age range. Work on 2 or 3 position training for up to 7 players in total. This should leave the reaming 5-6 players as aged (32+) veterans.
Once I am in Div I, continue to only add youth to my roster that are uncapped potential. Consider mostly team training at that point using the players in their best positions.

Above all else, rely on USA players to help contribute to merchandise. Continue adding drafted players to my roster every 2-3 seasons when I have a low draft spot. Continue investing 10K a week in draft even when I am not drafting that season. Consider a more elite trainer after my arena is fully built.

Well, good luck mate. When I read some of this stuff, I'm thankful for being in a micronation. I've started this season, and have already spent about 1.7 mil in upgrading the arena.

I was pretty lucky about many things though.. Got easy opponents in the cup(was the only bot/new team left in the 5th round), and basically have a bot guest game - old team home game schedule. So good for my arena incomes. Also, my rival team is somewhat older, but their non-scrub played got injured just before our match, and I managed to win. Added to my fan survey nicely. Oh, and no injuries with a level 1 trainer *knocks on a wood against jinx*
