I like the idea. Besides the announcement, we should have a live "counter" to see the fans entering the arena before the game.

Say the game starts around 7:00pm.
5:30pm - A counter will start from 0.
6:00pm - The number keeps going up as fans enter the arena
6:45pm ~ 7:00pm - The attendance jumps quickly as fans rush getting in the arena.
7:00pm - Game starts
7:15pm - The number slows down as most of the fans entered the arena already
7:45pm - Announce the attendance at half time
8:30pm - Game finishes.
