As far as I know only FT and Stamina influence FT%

I think FT is also affected by the level of opponent you are facing. must serve as some sort of internal pressure.

Another idea; FT% drops in higher level games. Maybe now that you're in div III, there is much less pressure and he shoots better. Could explain the Sensational FT NT player bricking his freebies in NT games.

Hey people,

so I was wondering whether experience helps with free throws. In fact, I have a strong suspicion that it indeed is so, but the basis of this observation is only one of my players: (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/21263825/overview.aspx)

The guy rose to a whooping 79% for a player with not that great a free throw. Trust me, the skill isn't even in redish letters. The only possible explanation, since the opponents' defence obviously plays no role here, is that he's gotten hot from the line due to all these years of playing.

I'd appreciate any opinions.

EDIT: and just for the sake of comparison, the same player went 59% from the line in season 28. How sweet is that rise in %, right?


I've wondered this, too.
It seems like my guys with low experience usually brick at least one of their clutch free throws in the waning minutes of a close game, even with FT ratings in the 8-12 range.

Samplesize is just way too low. I bet that most players average less than 3 FT attempts per game, so couple more shots missed/hit per seaosn make quite a difference % wise.

Sometimes I think that average FT of opponent is a factor. Better opponent's FT - worse own FT%.
