There isn't really a guaranteed difference SF/PF/C spots etc. You can play with two point guards or a point forward too. It's all relative to the overall team build and play style IMO

Definitely. The old position classifications are pretty much obsolete.

But if you *are* going to be ranked by the old style positions, like when so many people do their all-time teams, it's probably a lot better to be considered a PF vs. a center.

Look at some of the centers you'd be competing with for a spot on an all-time team (not in order): Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Russell, Olajuwan, Moses Malone, David Robinson, and so on.

Now compare that to PF (again not in order): Karl Malone, Barkley, Nowitski, Garnett, McHale, Bob Pettit, Chris Webber ... not bad players by any means. But not stacked like center is either.
