That was actually quietly a very impressive win, given the enthusiasm and GDP deficit. I know HCA helped.

But it told me a lot about some of our reserve players, especially Staples; I kind of already knew Tanner was up to scratch.

For Staples to play 32 minutes against a good NT side and manage a roughly even +/-, a rebound every four minutes and an assist every eight indicates that we do go five deep (Innes, Mac, Osman, Duguid and Staples) at the big men positions.

That's big!

Good start by the Lions :-)

And the guy defending him is a very solid defender... It made me take a long hard look about what kind of player I want to build next!!!

Very classy of Nachtmahr to post here.

I've been singing Tanner's praises for a while now so his play was no surprise. Elmacca's point about Staples is a very good one. I hadn't noticed what a good job he did. Innes obviously is difficult not to notice.

Repeating Elmacca again, this was a good win. First week of the season throws up funny results (eg Russia) and the first half showed the strength of Sweden, before we asserted ourselves in the second half.

I noticed yesterday that I was actually the last England manager to lose a home game. Since losing to Italy in season 28's consolation semi final, England have not lost a home game. (Sorry Woody).

Sharping's worst game in an England vest that semi final...

Final would have been tough away to Israel though, probably better to lie low for another 7 seasons before letting Morwood take the glory.
