You are right about the current possibility to get 48+ minutes during a walkover. As for injuries, I'm pretty it has always been the case (or at least for a very long time) that you could sustain an injury. As explained above, if a player can get GS and training minutes during a walkover, it's normal he is at risk to get injured. Unfortunate, but within the game.

At the risk of repeating a conversation that can only go nowhere, as speaking to you is like speaking to a brick wall, its a stupid feature and stupid features only need to be a feature till they're not a feature. The answer "this is how it is, so this is how it is" is incredibly irritating, especially as everything is as it is; until it isn't.

Fouls happen at an abnormal rate during a supposed walkover (by definition a game that does not take place) and since injuries only happen when there's a foul, the team that actually turns up for the game is punished by the increased chance of injury.

As an extreme example, if I was playing a team on tuesday in the league, and then on thursday in the cup, it would be mathematically correct for me to give a walkover in the league game, increasing his chances of an injury occuring, and increasing my chances of winning in the cup. Still, "this is how it is."

Now what do you expect to happen when these "lucky fans" get to live their dream? I'm sorry your MVP point guard got knocked out for two weeks because he was being guarded by a 43yr old mother of 3 from Lambeth, but man she wasn't about to let him go to the hole, so yeah she stabbed him with her knitting sneath.

The fact you used Lambeth (somewhat of a suburb of London, Ontario) in your scrub example makes me wonder just how seriously you take your research for message board replies on a game...

Sorry to cause a kerfuffle but I actually wasn't making reference to 'Merica's hat. I was just goofing on our British French participants having their little tetè-a-tetè. The Lambeth I was referencing was the London England borough which has a population of 300,000 and is most famously known for Lambeth Palace which is the residence for the archbishop of Canterbury who leads the Anglican Church.

Serving up a little Anti-merican sentiment along with your flapjacks with maple syrup on them I see.

I would try to defend my country, but I can't, or I won't.

Back on the subject. Some would say the game is never played, quite the contrary, it is PLAYED but the walkover result I think is there to keep players from consorting to game the system. Good rule of thumb, if you need the guy on Saturday don't play him on Thursday unless there is just no other way to get him his minutes.

It would help if you knew what you were talking about, but the odds or any other american knowing anything about Lambeth are next to 0. In fact, the odds of the average american knowing something about Europe or their own country are also pretty low. Just a few days ago an american asked me for information about how to get to France by train. I asked where in France he wanted to go and the guy replies: 'what do you mean where in France? France, the city in Paris'. I told him to get on a plane and go back to Michigan, the city in the state of Detroit. He took him a while to catch on.

Lambeth (and a good chunk of Kennington) were heavily bombed by V2 and V1 rockets in WW2. As a result, a very large portion of the buildings in the Borough are currently council houses, so in essence using Kennington for that joke was either dumb, ignorant or a symptom of something worse. It is more or less the same as joking using US neighbourhoods noteworthy for crime or racism. But hey, we don't know you and as an american we can't in good conscience assume you'd have a problem using a 43yo black mama from Ferguson for your jokes instead.

Actually the Ferguson equivalent has 14 OD and 11 ID with 10 SB so she would have just swatted those shots into the 6th row. Injuries in the game are somewhat random, then again so is real life.
