Did you plan to shut down the site at off season period to have a big checkup for all that problems?

If that can help, I think lot a players would understand that.

I've tried a couple of times to make the login process quicker, sadly with little success. I'll try to do it again once I have some free time.

You were right. I went back and rewrote most of the login process while adding shortcuts wherever possible. It was terribly convoluted and I managed to optimize it severely (at least that's what I think). Now, logins seem quite faster. Best thing about it? it only took a couple hours
