Except if you play in a bottom level league (i.e. a new player), there is NO upside to finishing #5 rather than #6-7...only downside.

Worse draft pick.
One less game's worth of training.
No upside. At all.

Basically, leaves me feeling if I would have been a little smarter about things, it would have made more sense to throw some games at the end of the season to guarantee a spot in the #6-7 range rather than finish #5. And any system that basically rewards teams for throwing games rather than trying to do their best is, well, probably a pretty lousy system.

What would make a lot more sense would be to allow teams in the #5 and #8 slot to (voluntarily) schedule scrimmages on the PO/Relegation gamedays. Or, alternatively, have the game automatically schedule a scrimmage game between the two #5 teams in a league and the two #8 teams in the league.

Guess what: it does... I believe next Saturday the no 5's and no 8's are playing each other in a automatically scheduled scrimmage (and also the teams that are already out of the play offs get such a game).

i believe he want that for tuesday too, and i could understand it especially in bottom leagues(where relegation only provides advantages) ;)

The actual system ain't perfect, so the discussion what is better 5 or 6th placed will come more often ... And it is difficult to say who is right, for me the current system is working but for him and other player is it not - and because the preferences are totally different in the pro and contra party it is hard to say who is right.

Ok, I see your point and the other guys already used my arguments :)

I only want to say that you're advice about losing games on purpose is not fair to the other clubs that may count on you defeating their rival or something.. I wanted to finish 6th but I didn't want to play my C as my PG and oposite..I played to maximize my trainings and I won 2 games that I didn't want :)

Oh I agree it's not fair, and I played to try to win despite the fact my last game of the season was against the #1 team. But I'm just pointing out that the system as it stands now unnecessarily hurts 2 out of the 8 teams in a given conference for really no rational reason. I would think it would take about all of two minutes for the "coders" in charge of the game to change the code to allow #5 and #8 teams to schedule scrimmages on the same day that the #1-4 and #6-7 teams have their games.

It's essentially the same process as the Cup during the season. If you are in the Cup, you have an automatic game on Thursday. If you're not in the Cup, you have the ability to schedule a game on Thursday.

This would be the same thing. If you're in the playoffs, or in the relegation battle, you have an automatic game. If you're not, you have the ability to schedule a scrimmage that day.

I was sure it would be something like that so we won't lose form, training, money... Now I'm pissed off! Stupid, stupid, stupid...

This discussion has been put up many many times.

5th place: certain of staying in the league, but less training, less revenue.
6th place: more revenue, more training...

Wrong comparison! You should compare 6-7 teams with the 8th and the 1-4 teams with the 5th. Now the things don't look fair, aren't they? The 8th not only is relegated but his team will become weaker and with less money. And the 5th not only lost chance for promoting but now will have to suffer. Not the 6th, the 7th place is better than the 5th!

I would love to get some of those 8th place draft picks, though. Actually I would love to get even those 5th, 6th, or 7th place draft picks, but that's my problem.

You can't both promote and get good draft pick, it was you're choice..

On the other hand some clubs are too weak to promote and yet too strong to relegate through play - out game..Explain me in all your wisdom why I should not be 6th rather then 5th and receive money, training, and better draft pick?
