The other issue with this, is its not just new promotees using this system. Teams like yourself and bryce would have had no problems being playoff teams this season - but rather chose to tank. That suggests the system is flawed.

Totally agree with you (plus one) however the change in floor will certainly reduce the size of the carrot.

I agree that I have an unfair advantage should I promote back up with my current bank balance if the player market is not fixed.

Big win for me was not tanking but the fact that I sold players for reasonable money in a market which has continued to fall

I have not ended up anywhere near as rich as I thought I would though, as I got hit hard on attendance and because I tried to train young trainees who have lost value, despite the expense of having a top trainer

Kind of ironic my first season in the ABBL i was critised for heaps (most of the time justly) one of the things I was criticised for was not tanking.

Truth is despite all my seasons playing the game I am so far in nous and ability behind the likes of Whitehead as a Manager its not funny.

Only just now (this last half season) starting to figure out some of his "ways"

You know I'm always glad to share information and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Surprisingly, I'm still learning more about this game. You got to know to adapt as things are always changing. Only question mark is whether or not one has the resources to do so. ;)

A couple of points here. Aussie and I did do well this season with fairly cheap rosters. This season at my most expensive I had a $673k roster after I bought Mottram but for most of the season I was around the $494k-566k mark and making quite a tidy profit. However judge me not by my salaries (and I assume Aussie too) as I spent seasons hunting out guys who would perform far better than I would pay them which is why I paid things like $2.5 million for guys with just $50k salaries.

What was obscene was back in season 18 taking I was making around $500k a week, although a lot less the last two, but add in the $1 million promotion money and I made a $7,000,000 profit that season. I was also able to turnover lots of my old players easily. It was soul destroying so thank goodness I had the India U21 team to run as well but well worth it in terms of team advancement. A pity about the draft as a $1 million draft pick would have been the icing on the cake.

Season 18 was also your first season in the ABBL hence you had a boost in the fansurvey

This season for me

attendences between 430 to 440K
TV 219K
Merchandise roughly 42 K

Staff salaries averaged 46K
Scouting averaged 30k
players wages 264K

Equals roughly 356K average weekly profit

But then consider Ive spent $ getting good staff and have brought trainees etc

So you tanked an ABBL season to make 7mil in cold hard cash...
In all my seasons in the ABBL, I have not had a bank balance of 7mil ever...

what I did was win enough games to secure 5th place, then tank. This season it did not pan out so well... In previous seasons it worked like a gem.

Most I ever had was 4mil when I blew 3.9mil on Wazza. That was in fact my first season in the ABBL.

I was planning on tanking this season as well until I saw baxter bogans and Direwolf tanking. Thats when i knew it would be a shit fight in the relegation series. I pretty much forfeited the first few weeks of this season. Ohh also because I was close to zero in cash and revenue LOL.

in other news, grats to mllama and manfrotto on the MVP.

I think the word tanking might be getting a little overused in recent discussions. For my part, i've been focusing more on training than trying to win the title so haven't had as strong a roster as i have in past seasons but i was still in finals contention and could have finished as high as 3rd but clearly wasn't going to beat mllama's squad this season and decided to drop to 5th instead for obvious reasons. This only happened in the last couple of weeks of the season though, was competitive throughout the majority of the regular season and Cup. Most 'tanking' teams might as well be a bot team for most of the season.

A big man wins the MVP, what a shocker! :P

I reckon my Alexey Berestetskiy was unlucky to not even feature on the list even though i had a dismal W-L record.

4th in scoring on 22.4 PPG
4th in rebounding on 13.9 per

No doubt he shouldnt have got close to winning but shows their must definetly be W-L record in the criteria for MVP cause surely he was top 19 worthy!

Manfrotto the MVP in a winning team had

2nd in scoring on 22.8 PPG
6th in reb on 13.1 per

Just my 2 cents but from my experience, I don't recall ever seeing an MVP winner from a team falling outside the top 4. I think that is a massive criteria but I'll wait for someone who can be bothered to prove that theory wrong.

The lowest team position/record I've seen for an MVP was our winner this season, from TeamAkuma. He finished in 4th with an 11-11 record. Had he dropped to 5th I believe he wouldn't have won.

I agree but I also say well done to Antonio Manfrotto and the Lewisham Wombats. I am pleased that Gary Lawrance made 5th and was even able to get some best votes. I don't think I have ever seen so many players getting votes, maybe a tribute to the number of stars in the ABBL this season.

Glad to see big Antonio get the mvp, he was huge for me this season - 65% fg is massive.

As for leszek getting 2nd - lol.

One only needs to look at this season's mvp to see how massive team record is - none outside the finals even picked up a vote.
