New season new faces, same old competition. Here's the recap of day 1.

Magic, after a miserable season, made a statement beating Div II demotee Pistons, 103-91. Both teams used a 7 men rotation. Pistons played with a better FG% but Magic's 13/21 behind the 3 pt line was the key for the win.

Tachenko and Flyers had a rivalry coming from season 11 PO race. What a great game that was! And a disappointing game for Tachenko that missed the last second shot by Mayagoitia, 87-85.

Opening night was rivalry night for Goats and Illusion and it worked in favor of Chicago. Ilussion TIE'd but that doesn't change the fact that Goats looked more focused than last season, 96-89.

Investors wasn't happy facing Gavno on the opening night. Chow got his MVP award before the game and played like an MVP and lead his team for an easy victory, 101-52.

You never know what's gonna happen when a contender faces a new team on the opening night. Dutchmen received their Div IV rings before the game and looked sharp on the court despite TIE'ing. 4Th quarter belonged to Hawks, 90-102.

TIE'ing an away game is always risky and Cleveland could pay the consequences unless German stepped up and scored 30, 99-103. Cosma of Traffickers can be a class act in this league.

Bangers want to forget Season 11 as soon as possible and it couldn't get any better than this. Another new team Armageddons miserable outside shooting spoiled an otherwise decent performance, 87-73.

Broncos @ Steppers was another close game of the night, but when you have Mina on your side, big shots will fall, 96-88.

Player of the day was Mariu Mannu of the Flyers. Italian forward acquired during the off season had a great night with 33 pts, 13 rbds and 7 asts.

Games of the Tuesday night will be, Magic @ Cleveland and Steppers @ Investors.

The early part of the season could be a little shaky for me. I have to figure out a new league and figure out my new roster. I really didn't know what to expect last night. These early season games can be volatile. All things considered I'm pretty happy with my first D.III game and a sellout crowd! Hopefully the fans don't abandon me after a few losses. Unfortunately they seem to have pretty short memories in my experience.

I kinda thought so... I figured if you were going to swear a lot, you would have done it on previous posts or something..

That was a really good game.. I watched it live and was thrilled I finally have a player that can make shots on a regular basis.. Also, my passing has gotten better with Mannu, who has a good passer rating

The first half of the season i'll be doing some hardcore training where i will struggle. That way i can figure out what my attendance will be to see who i can afford. Around the transfer deadline i expect a major team overhaul.

So, get your licks in now.

Scrappers here checkin in and readin up on III.4 - I have to say, it is lame to give up before the season starts. Take a look and figure it out.
I promoted from div IV.6 and made the playoffs my first year. it was crazy. I had the same feeling - I don't stand a chance. There were two completely unbeatable teams in the division, but I still managed against teams like the Raleigh Roughriders. I didn't go up to Div II last year and complain and throw in the towel, I figure it out and competed. I could have made the playoffs with a fourth finish. However, at the end, I purposely dropped some games to get in the relegation for extra training and money.
I have passed the Magic, Goats and Illusion. No offense meant - they are very good and scary teams to face - but, don't overwhelm yourself by looking at their rosters like they are some kind of gods. This is a great game and you can figure out ways to shut guys down and light up others.

Peace out,

Bayard
