I agree with beanerz that what we need is stud big men with some decent outside skills as well. At a certain point in time, however, the switch needs to be made from making a potential NT player more well-rounded to driving his key skills through the roof. My personal experience with training Denny Hall (also ATG) was that at 23 his pops were a bit slow on the inside and he ideally would have been switched over to inside training earlier. Hopefully his current owner will be able to get him to his potential, but only time will tell whether I trained him outside for too long.

That said, I think Sammons passing needs to be addressed. I don't think players with less than respectable passing belong on the NT except under exceptional circumstances (ie our current dearth of big man prospects...). I would train a mixture of passing and his core inside skills. Assuming a modest 10 or 11 pops a year, you could have him at respectable passing and 14/14/14 in two seasons of training, you'd probably pick up a handling pop in there as well. At 22 his salary would still be very reasonable. At that point in time you could reassess.

If your team is trying to win, it's awfully hard to play a stud big man trainee at PG week after week while he tries to pop at passing. By training it intermittently over a couple seasons you can choose the weeks/games that you can afford to lose or are guaranteed to win anyways. Or you could just do what I'm doing and tank intentionally and not worry about it! (bring on the draft baby!).

Gotta say, Sammons secondaries are light years ahead of where they were 2 seasons ago. They were all 1's and 2's back then. More forward training to get some of his secondaries up isnt' a terrible idea right now or some passing.

Gotta get the primaries up at some point but with his high cap and decent height, they can be trained for a long time.

so anyways, after having recovered from this crazy flu, I am going to post a bit of an update for the NT!

we are doing comfortably in the standings going 4-1 so far, with 2 home games coming up and then 1 last game against Romania
I expect the team to finish no worse than 6-2, which should easily put us into the round of 32

From the looks of things, only 2 or 3 teams from the Americas will make it to the round of 32 (depending on how the standings play out)... which makes it very likely that we can take HCA for the Americas next season if luck continues to favour us =)

The NT has lost the interest of the majority of the Canadian community and it shows. The lost interest is a result of poor communication on the BB site in my opinion. It is pretty evident that the current manager will not be back based on the downward spiral his manger rating is doing.

It has been very well documented that the NT does not even have the best players on it, meaning that the scouting has been missed or forgotten. Sad indeed.

Unfortunately WA lost my support when he made a statement to the effect that he would put his own players in the roster regardless of whether or not they were deserving. Anytime someone is worried about their own interests over that of the team/country, poor results generally follow.

Beanerz, its time for you to take over the NT.

I think I would agree with all three of you. Zmtomako has made a bunch of questionable choices as Coach and no matter how much we complain and criticize, he is still coach and if he chooses to not listen to us, there is nothing we can do about it, for the rest of the season anyway. We just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.
I think Canada could have easily being unbeaten in the tournament but the only thing we can hope is that Canada wins their next two games. We can't win the tournament anymore but we can hope Zmtomako tries to help us finish in the best place possible and get the best seed possible. -sigh-

I don't mind the criticism, it's good to see that people care. What bugs me most is me making a thread about the game tactics, no one bothers to comment and then I take back lash for not generating discussion

I am not doing what I intended to do with the NT, my effort level clearly isn't where it needs to be and time is not of a luxury for me. You have all the rights to criticize, but help me out here, the tactics and roster is out and have always been out, don't just give me post-game comments, give me something pre-game

Let me put it this way, if you don't speak up BEFORE a game, nothings going to change and the ball continues to be in my hands... I got ZERO second opinions from Canada so far for all games in the consolation
Unless you are telling me you want the tactics on the on-site forums, I don't know where you're looking, but the tactics have been on the off-site
