All my players are outside that range.
Look at my roster, it is very interesting...

Those are off.

My starting Center averages 40.7 and is a regular starter
My starting Power Forward averages 37.7 and is a regular starter
My starting Small Forward averages 29.7 and is a regular starter
My starting Shooting Guard averages 23.3. and is a rotation player (took over at starter on 11/23/2010)
My starting Point Guard averages 37.6 and is a regular starter

My primary backup Point Guard averages 19.4 and is a rotational player
My primary backup Small Forward averages 18.5 and is a rotation player
My primary backup Power Forward averages 13.4 and is a backup
My primary backup Center averages 17.4 and is a backup
My secondary backup Center averages 9.6 and is a backup

My former starting Shooting Guard averaged 28.1. He's currently averaging 36.6 for his new team in Brazil and he's listed as drawing a paycheck.

I love the concept and I see good potential. I think so far, just based off my roster that all this feature does is display how you manage your players. I list the same PG, SF, PF, C on a regular basis while my other players are exactly what they are according to the above listing. My backup PG, SF, and my current starting SG play those exact roles. They are the first off the bench and I look to them on a regular basis when my regular starter needs a break. I rarely pull my starting PF and C from the rotation in favor of their backup when setting my matchups and during the game, they see limited action.

I tend to find key players are the league's top average scorers. So probably more related to how much of the player is performing in relation to their team. Maybe...

I have the top 2 average scorers in my league, and yet none of my players are listed as "Key Players". So I don't think your theory is right :(

in my league there is only 1 key player, he plays without substitutions and makes 11+ assists per game( first in that category).

It looks decent. Higher ranked teams will have more equal roles perhaps...

I think the new feature is intriguing. It will take some time to tweak and assess its true value.

However, I think the most important point is that the game developers are taking BB in a good direction with the two-pronged approach of BuzzerBeta and Manager input. This will keep certainly keep things from getting stale. Thanks, BB-Team.

Yes, BuzzerBeta is a nice idea, some "Google Labs" way of thinking futher the game

About, this Role feature, for now, it looks a bit like a gadget.
I mean you can check DMI, salaries, minutes played to see the very week what are the main threats in a team.
This feature gives you just a quick way of doing it with risks of being mislead since it is based on data from before the very week.

Of course, if it is linked with other interesting functions later such, contract negociations with players and the way their are happy and want to resign, why not. Might be great.

I juste hope that it won't affect the importance of game shapes in the game, as they already function very well and need not te be considered as less important because of a new feature

I think you probably haven't been updated. I'm guessing they're updating teams in order of their team-id, not league by league or country by country. Your team-id is big so that might be why.
