Great response Green Machine, thanks.

Based on your experience and professionalism you are the odds on favorite. Good luck.

As a respected Canadian manager your opinion carries weight
let the boys debate

Thanks, I understood that it was a joke.

Pretty funny that you are asking me to not try and influence the Canadian community. While I suspect I have little to no voice with most it is rather ironic. You of all people are the most vocal in supporting your candidate, and have often been a bit over the top in this matter.

All I am saying is that I am pleased to see such a respected candidate run against Sparky. Green Machine is well deserving of this type of position and in my opinion would make a great U21 manager. That is not saying Sparky wouldn't as he did a fine job. I just think that Canada needs a change. The last two seasons have been the least active and uninterested years for the U21 program, a change may be what is needed.

Question for the candidates:

With the introduction of GDP and now the new "NO Blank" changes. I am curious how you plan to have this team play?

What type of offence will you run? How will you manage the GDP? etc.

I'm trying to stay quiet

Having posted the second most in this thread, you're doing a poor job of it.

I'm hoping for some change, so best of luck Green Machines.

Largely depends on the roster. What I do with my team is use "wrong" offences (eg. inside focus with my dominently outside team) against weak opposition in order to foul cocky opponents.
As for GDP, I'm a bit "old school". I don't use it that often, especially in close games, because a wrong guess could easily tilt the game in the wrong direction, I prefer letting the opponent make the mistake... Against far superior team it's necessary and the risks are lower because the game would be lost without it anyway, so GDP all the way.

About the subject of training, I currently have 3 players I trained (and drafted!) from the beginning: Lindsey (capped), Cornoldi, and Ranjith. I drafted them at 19yo so they didn't have a chance at the U21, and their potential limit them for the NT (along with the cheap lvl 5 trainer). They are offense oriented players, with average D (12OD 8ID for Lindsey, 10/9 for Cornoldi and 11/9 for Ranjith), but all 3 of them can play PG/SG/SF without a problem. And the worst skill of all 3 players combined is average SB for Ranjith. Yes I like well rounded players...

On another note, I'm quite amazed with the number of candidates this season! Last season almost nobody showed up for the NT election, and now we have 10 candidates!

Candidates please tell us about a player that you trained from 18 years old and how they turned out?

Watts, who just turned 21 would be my best trainee on the team. Since I joined half way through a season and he was created with my team, he started 5-6 pops behind some other 18 year olds in his year, plus he didn't have knockout starting skills. On 5/16/14 he had 56.8 TSP (using sublevels from USA training calc and backtracking pops) and now he has about 80.8 TSP from a mix of level 4 and 5 trainers.

With the introduction of GDP and now the new "NO Blank" changes. I am curious how you plan to have this team play?

Study the opposition tactics in previous games. Look at their GS. Look at their past GDP guesses. Will they use tie/nor enthusiasm? This should not be new for any of us as this is what should be done for league games. Our GDP guesses will be numerous if the game is not in doubt, whether big win or big loss. Tight games will require some extra finesse, research, gut feeling, and (hopefully) community feedback coming up with a consensus on the offsite. No blank is a new change and will require putting the best players we have for the matchups, tactics, and GS for starters, backups, and reserves.
What type of offence will you run? How will you manage the GDP? etc.

These are answered on the offsite.
