Not really splitJ they will have a boatload of cap space if he doesn't resign. Also with the new CBA going through this could be a massive boon. If a hard cap comes in and contracts become capped at 3 or 4 years like the owners want Deron could be had for a lot lower number than what they would have had to pay Carmelo.
I would rather have a proven player than one with "upside" and that's exactly what Nets have done in getting Deron for Favours. Also if i was a FA this offseason i would prefer to sign with a team that has Lopez and Deron as opposed to one that has Harris Favours and Lopez.
favours is quite a good complementary piece to brooke lopez... if he develops into a prototypical PF then nets would possibly have the best front court
That is a massive massive stretch. Lopez is a solid big guy who doesn't rebound well and Favours may never be any good. To say they had the potential to become the best front court in the NBA is akin to suggesting a Div 4 team will win the cup this year!
