considering Thomas More's Utopia had no money and people would cooperate, which suits my proclivities and ideals, i kinda agree that this "Utopia" is not my idea of utopia. instead what is shaping up is an elite world of cut-throat competition with little mercy for the weak.

How 'bout calling it "Ayn Randia"?

If people want a real country that has no chance of ever becoming a BB nation, then just look at this list for the least populated nations on Earth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_least_populous_count...

I think it's safe to make our new nation Vatican City or Pitcairn Islands.

Plus, think of all the fun names we could create for teams in Vatican City.

Come on, guys, this utpia idea is really bad.. Why do we need a fictional country?

What if they call it Mark Cuban's Invite Only Private Island for Elite Basketball Managers and Players?

I thought it would be fun if they called it Mars and made all the players green.

About the draft, I also think that the draftees with "Utopian" nationality is awfull.
I will get a 2nd team for sure, and my strategy would probably be to draft 1 or 2 good players after the 1st season and train them really hard (and make them U21 or NT players -.- )..
1 of the most exciting things about training in my opinion is to make them represent 1 nation, meaning that hes 1 of the best of his nationality and also contributing for the country itself.
With utopian draftees that is impossible and wouldnt be fun at all.

I also suggest some random draftees nationalities, as that would be really fun and would also improve micronations NT's by giving them some more players.
I am a programmer myself, and I don't think it would be hard to make a small formula where u can change the %'s of getting a Chinese or Spanish player vs some micronation, according to the season NT rankings.

For example: a draft as a 5% change of being from the #1 ranked Nation and a 0.2% change from the #89 ranked Nation. The sum of all nations had to be 100% obviously eheheh

I actually think the idea of Utopian teams being able to draft foreign/international players is a great idea. Not only would it help the micro nation NTs like you said, but it's also realistic--you see international players drafted in real life in the NBA. And it would add more diversity and be fun.

Now - why didn't I think of that! Your idea of being able to draft a random international player to help out micronations is so simple and yet blows the mind in its implications for future NT players of these small nations. Way to go!!

Maybe also if there was a re-jig of the Merchandising formula to provide more cash incentive to have NT players from other nations on your squad? Just a thought.

I am actually for the new nation drafting all nationalities, but there might be a complaint from local managers that they want only drafting inside there nation to ensure they have a fair chance to homegrow and train local NT for themselves. If all their best players were in the Utopia they might not like that.
