I love training in Utopia, I just had a player pop from respectable to strong and in my mind I said, "Oh it's on, he's going to dominate now". It's a nicer feeling to think that each pop matters more.

it's just dawning on me now what a strategic error i have made with my Utopia team: i was going to train a squad of home-grown heroes and do it on the cheap but it would take several seasons. but i forgot i was not doing this in a vacuum -- that talent levels will be rising for all teams. relatively, speaking, i am doomed to treading water, because i scrimped on training, and i insist on doing two-position training. i will have money, but, as with talent levels, so too with prices of trained players.

i suppose it is not too late to go out and get some out-of-country oldsters (sorta like bringing Beckham to LA?) who can immediately raise me above the average dreck, but i really would like to know what it is like to have a squad of Utopian players, some of whom i have trained -- but it's kinda rough to realize two weeks into the season that i have already blown it.

Eh, if you actually had any trainable players on your Utopian team, it's an amazing feat. It sounds like you had 4 somehow. That's freakishly lucky.

Oh wait, I see you bought some. But they basically all have starter potential? I'm confused. Were you planning to train these, then sell them, then buy trainees with higher potential?

no, this is my "system" at work.

i have a miserable training record. when i rebuilt, i bought 19 and 20 year olds who already benefited from someone who knew what they were doing. doing two-position training, i added, i figure, 25 skill points over the remainder of their trainable years. i expect to do the same now.

so for the four or so i have now (one will get trained, but will always be miserable), i hope to get to 75 -80 skill points. those guys will provide my base. from there, it is spend money on the draft and train single-position (which i have never done).

fulfilling this plan will take close to rest of the time we have a sun, give or take a billion years. this plan makes building the pyramids look like the construction of a cheap tract home in the suburbs. building this team will be an achievement i will have carved onto my headstone.

have i told you of my plans for my stadium -- to cap my bleachers at 4500?

LOL. glad to see some posts referencing Utopia pops. Draws your attention away from the real deal

I can't train. In the NBBA, its even tougher.

Trading players is the only way to go

If it all works out, I'm hoping to create another Watkins. :D

He is balanced, 114 total skill pts but only one is over 15 ... and you can easily guess what that one skill is. I drafted him at 19 and trained him entirely with a level 4 trainer. So repeating his skill set is very much doable for anyone. Understanding why he plays well at this level is something else and I'm still trying to figure that out.

That sounds kind of like my SF Poom. He's 35 and dropped in a few skills, so I'm trying to remember how many he had. I think he was at 111 skill points before he was completely capped. I'm impressed you got your Superstar guy up to 114. What age did you stop training him at?
