BuzzerBeater Forums

I would say to the United States accounts not logging on after registration is the waiting period required. The U.S. is a country that wants things happening when they take action(such as signing up) and like results fast. Not to say other countries don't, but I just believe its because of the basis of the American system that we live in, we are very impatient :).

Possibly quicker waiting periods would be helpful, I don't have much information towards this subject, so I'll refrain from talking about it much as I don't know the mechanics of the registration very well.

The activity at the lower levels is also very disheartening, when I use to play BB I would say the forums were way more active for leagues, not very active, but still there was activity. I could just be in a inactive league, but I believe when I first made a post when I registered my team, the league had gone about a year without a post.

The forums are another thing, BB is a great game, but I just do not like how these forums work, they are just quite strange, and do not function very well for me. If anyone here has played the football simulation, Goallineblitz, their forum set up is great, and the way there is sub sections into sections. These forums are VERY active, the forums themselves are set up great, not to say the moderation or user base posting is very good though :).

Another thing, thinking of the goallineblitz forum system gave me another idea, the buzzerbeater referral system just doesnt give me enough incentive to try to invite friends, and the way its set up is bad. Something such as a referral link, for example goallienblitz uses this(my referall link, feel free to remove if it is viewed as advertising): http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=17499907

If users had a referall link, they could post it on forum websites they go to, fantasy football leagues, facebook, myspace, etc. Now, the incentive for getting referrals? I would suggest something to where you earn points per referral, like say you needed 100 referral points to get a month of supporter, but to keep abuse low for someone that would just make the accounts themselves or get friends to just create accounts then never login, I would suggest a waiting period. Like say I recruit a friend named Bob Smith, he would then need to be active for one month before I could gather any of the referral points, and the month being maybe having to take some actions, not just creat it on day 1, then say 30 days later logging on, active throughout the entire period, and maybe having to complete the glb checklist(I think thats what its called? Visiting Buz R Beater or whatever). And possibly buying some transfers and other things like that, not sure how buzzer beater would set it up, just a suggestion. Sorry if i'm trying to compare BuzzerBeater to Goallineblitz, just thought of two ways that I believe would benefit BB.

I disagree with you guys...Americans are busy working and raising families. They are not turned off by things that take time, to the contrary Americans are excellent farmers, and aritsans, understand the concept of short early returns for long term gain..and it is simply the mythology of the rest of the world that perpetuate the stero type that because America itself is young, its people collectively act like adolesents...which is of course why most posters here agree with the sterotype, they are adolesents.....It is a very cool game, it will catch on if it can survive the terrbile economy our government is causing here....but we should be doing that real soon! BuzzerBeater is going to be a winner because it is great.

Ok I have to say I %100 disagree with you, but then again can pretty much tell most of your thinking from this post and your avatar :/.

Goal Line Blitz is a disaster of a MMORPG that lets users pay or refer for a competitive advantage. If BB were to do the opposite of everything GLB does, it'd grow into even more of a success.

The problem with lack of American popularity has more to do with the more complex, Euro-influenced definition of success, as well as the consecutive cup and league tournaments. Americans are more results-oriented and fall into a strict win/loss dichotomy whereas Euro fans tend to concentrate a lot more on sport as a thing of beauty. In BB, this manifests itself when you see American users quit if it takes them a while to start winning, and you see our users not care or become confused by the cup as an additional competition. BB doesn't deliver results quickly enough, I guess, but it causes the main source of satisfaction to be the construction of your team.

Personally, I love it. Don't change a thing.

I don't really think you understood my point at all, I did not say make the game aspects like GLB. I suggest that you re read it, it will be informative to you, as I described aspects that would be useful, such as the forums that GLB has had.

Apologies; I have some personal issues with GLB higher-ups, and seeing it brought up when suggesting changes to a game I actually like causes me to react negatively.

I don't think BB wants users to spam referral links, though, and dangling free Supporter would cause this to happen. There is already an option to refer a friend to BB.

As far as the forums go, I do agree that the BB forum layout needs improvement, but honestly GLB forums are more of a community of users who joined during the period of actual growth in 2008, got to know each other, and hung around in the forums as the game collapsed around them. The forums grew more active after the game hit the skids, which is telling. GLB's forums helped it kill the game, too, after certain users who spent every second of every day kissing ass on the forums gained enough influence to pretty much have Bort do what they wanted him to do. You don't see favoritism in BB and I'd like it to remain that way.

In short, forum changes would need to be implemented very carefully, and GLB should NOT be used as the example.
