"Relegation is too high a price to pay, by a lot"
This is the way it should be, but I'm interested in hearing exactly HOW/WHY relegation is so bad. There are no supporter totals, that we know of - and no promotion bonuses that we know of. How is relegation bad????
The other question is, how is promotion good???

presumably because you want to be in the best league...I mean what other end goals would you have? Just to win the most amount of games you can? Being in a higher league will get you stiffer competition, will also get your more fans so you can support buying better players, etc.

I agree, but that doesn't mean that promoting is necessarily a good idea. If the financial benefits are greater, then YES. But otherwise, no.
What I WANT to hear from you guys is that DI is far and away the most lucrative division to be in, which means you can charge higher prices, get more sponsorship money, etc., etc.
The "glory" is not "far and away better than not promoting". Otherwise we can see teams sandbagging like in Hattrick, saving up money to eventually promote and then pound the higher division.

well frankly this is a complicated question, what constitutes "far and away better" is a subjective measure which is really best decided empirically. There are various aspects of the economic model (such as season ticket holders.. merchandising revenue model... price/demand curve model) which can be tweaked higher or lower. At present we've set them at something we think is reasonable, but they will be adjusted given feedback. We agree that we want people not to sandbag against getting promoted, but we also don't want there to be too sharp a discontinuity as there are other detrimental effects that can kick in around such an instability.
