2nd game didn't quite live up to the hype of the first one. Starters Sharpling and Hongs showed they can play the guard spots in an inside offense. But our backups just straight forgot to show up, with Gascoigne and Marshall somehow racking up -21 PDs in only 7 minutes of action!

lol.

The hero's of game 1 really got slaughtered on the court today. still agin amusing and entertaining results. Sharpling isn't a surprize. But you really gotta work on that TO rate...

wow, i just checked this out. They had 3 visits to the court at only a couple minutes each but did give up -21pd :<
They were subbed in with other reserves i think, so perhaps it is a case of englands weaker line up facing a stronger belgium line up for small parts of the game with belgium taking full advantage?
the other guys didnt show such a bad pd because they played with a stronger line up/it averaged out over more minutes. Perhaps. But what do you reckon?

while the level of drop off is extreme, it's not exactly surprising that Hongs and Sharpling can kill a 2-3 zone and the young guys can't. If you know this game, a ten second glance at the roster would tell you that.

4-17 shooting from the bench is more of a worry.

Even if you count Austin's 4 turnovers as missed shots claimed by the D, he still shot .500 (7-14 instead of 7-10)

The turnovers aren't great. I do acknowledge Austin's limitations at NT level. At club level he has the odd game like that but usually makes enough blocks to compensate, but he has far fewer blocks at NT level and we can't really count shots altered properly.

He is a LI weapon though, for all his weaknesses.

Hmm, I'm not sure if you're implying Gascoigne/Palit aren't quite ready yet, but you'd be mistaken if you think that, they are easily among our top flight of guards. Marshall might not be quite ready for certain tactics, but as a SF that's understandable.

Sharpling I expected, but Hongs was a bit more of a surprise to me personally, at least with all his passing, however his GS is phenomenal so thank you :)

Really for the backups I'm going to take it as too small of a sample size to really get anything useful, the young guys started last week and did just fine. Holm fouling 4 times in 6 minutes was also impressive.

I'll take this offline, as perhaps the two younger guys have trained a certain way this season that doesn't show in salaries yet.
