DIII
Da Bears at Da Hawks
Red Fort at Redbull

i'm more than a little amazed that a Bot team -- Flying Pan Crunch Time -- is still in the Cup. blew through four other bot teams. they face a DIV team this week. good luck to one and all.

Absolutely laughable. (65339200)

Yikes. At least I got to go out to a team that deserved the win as much or more than I did - your team literally gave the game away (23 turnovers, 17 of those steals?).

I appreciate the thought, but I think I just caught you on an off night. I'm just biding my time before I sell off a few of my old backups. I'm just trying to sock away some money for a season or two before I make one last ditch effort to make NBBA. I had been operating at a zero profit/small deficit for a couple seasons that really, unfortunately, just set my window back.

I'll continue my usual path and go as far as possible in CUP then start selling. UK is the team to watch in the Big 8 (athough Ron Swanson's been very quiet the last few seasons and might be ready to make a big move again.) The Great 8 is scary good. Obviously a lot changes the second half of the season, but Window Lickers as the 5th best team on your side says a lot.

I agree the Great 8 is scary good. Our conference isn't to be underestimated in the slightest, but I'm not sure I agree I'm the team to watch in the Big 8. I train a 31 y.o. 6-6 player, 7-0 big with terrible passing, and a 3k 6-10 draftee with no OD...all at PG. So during games you can imagine the chaos at that position. Frankly, if I was a fan I would probably never attend a game. Our GE coach has to because...well...I'm not sure actually because his efforts go unpaid. It's a generous donation though. Anyway I just don't think we're the team to watch at all. I might pay to watch Frank Tanner 'Cleveland LeBron' it out there.

tonight was astonishing. i knew i would lose to the Hawks -- i am in Coco's camp here, that they are a very good team, very deep -- but the rest of the games? you could have won a lot of money from me if you had bet
-- Lake Merritt would barely beat ChiTown and would need more effort to do so
-- the Bruins would lose
-- Red Bull would lose
-- Window Lickers would lose
Tucumcari helped salvage my conference's pride, and Thunder got the night off, but even the Lion Pride - Incompl surprised me, although Incompl is assembling a decent set of players.

wow. i hope tonight was just the GE randomly deciding to double or triple the HCA or else this inter-conference play is going to be along 4 weeks.

When my team was good and I could pontificate about things, I used to to think that an NBBA team is about as good as their third best big man and third best guard.

Technically this was false, but it was just to say that you can get a lot by abusing your opposition during those 10-12 minutes when their backups are on the court.

It's also why doing d.II whilst carrying Nielsen's 216k salary is so difficult, cause at this level one is much better off splitting those 216k into two 108k power forwards.

The blame rests on me though since I sold my third guard before I realized I didn't have a home game that week, so I missed out on 260k. A stupid overlook that's going to take a large chunk of the season to make up for.

this is from BuzzerManager:

team salaries
Lake Merritt $540 049
UK 516 589
Window Lickers 468 762
Bruins 458 080
RedBull 444 354
Eugene 440 199
The Hawks 424 760
Corn Growers 420 454
ChiTown 406 253

We have a long way to go, but one way of looking at this is to see who will be in a position to add some salary the last 2-3 weeks of the season. Carrying over $500,000 in salary for the entire season, especially when combined with low stadium revenues, is tough to do. this is the story for UK and Lake Merritt -- although both teams have NT players which probably go a good ways to paying for themselves through merchandising.

But the Bruins are making big gate revenues and just behind them are the Hawks. Both are winning, both teams are 8 deep, and both can take on $60 000 to $100 000, at least for a few weeks, and both will probably have some cash by the end of the year. i think, right now, these are the teams best positioned to win. (one other trait -- both have coaches who pooh-pooh their chances of winning a Cup game against a DVI bot team.)

For that matter, the Corn Growers, and to a lesser extent, ChiTown, are raking in big revenue bucks and will probably be in a position to make some positive moves, although probably not this season.
