I hate to prolong this mess, but:
It makes no sense to say it will be released on one day, and then either wait til the last possible moment, or the next day, its obviously going to be an event in the season that players are anxious to see. I don't care if they said it was coming out on the 20th at 12:00, but just try to meet that time. It just makes business sense to meet deadlines, particularly arbitrary ones they set well in advance. If its difficult for the servers to process it, then have the lists released at a more manageable date, unless there were unforeseen circumstances in which case provide better communication. And for some reason, I think of this as a business as opposed to the BB's doing this out of the goodness of their hearts to 99% of us lowly non-supporters who should be grateful for whatever they provide.
Sorry, as a non-supporter I should probably stop using the high volume message boards now.
1) They explicitly said that this is a server intensive process and that they lists may not be available until after Monday in the stickied post. It's pretty clear.
2) My point about people not paying for it is that server space is in many ways limited by how much money they have to reinvest into infrastructure. The reason why many MMOGs run smoothly is because they charge high monthly fees to both make a profit and to handle the server load. Many other sports games just completely shut down for long periods of time while processing is happening. So given the four choices of:
(a) making everyone who plays pay
(b) have long periods of downtime during processing of major game components
(c) a drastic reduction in features like in game chat, message boards, national teams, etc.
(d) slightly longer processing time on things that have no direct impact on game play
I would certainly pick D. You can't get everything without giving something up and I am really, really glad that the developers have chosen to go with
D in order to continue to make a high quality game that is mostly free to the vast majority of users.
That's all I was getting at. I wasn't saying supporters are more worthy or anything dumb like that. I was pointing out that the fact that they've chosen to make the game (which is laden with features) mostly free comes with some limitations. One of which is that some processing takes awhile.
(For the record: I wasn't a supporter for a long time, one of the reasons I bought it was because I wanted to reward the developers for treating supporters almost the exact same as free players which is not the case with most games like this.)
