not that alonso isn't well rounded, but its hard to imagine any PG that should excel at C that well. of course, it helps that cedeno and erfurt can easily and effectively shift up a position offensively or defensively.

usa elite's manager had a great suggestion about limiting defensive assignments to more realistic levels. IIRC, players could guard one or two positions from their offensive placement, but not 3 or 4. in real life that matchup never happens and since we can't react after gametime we're stuck even with an LCD/blank setting like i had. it's a no-brainer for the BB's, wouldnt even be much effort on the programming side.

They would have to change how training works. Or increase the bonus from cross training by like 1000% or something. It would be much harder to have well rounded players, or even normal players with one really good secondary. It's already a pain in the ass to make versatile players, a change like that (while making sense for the sim) would make training much harder.

It would be an easy programming fix, simply limit the drop down menu options for defensive assignments.

Instead of working around the training problem by creating additional fixes which create further issues (its still a pain in the ass, you still have to play your player out of position offensively, and it screws up the game in other ways as mentioned above). They should have directly fixed the problem by changing how training works, instead of indirect alternatives and telling mangers "you're doing it wrong".

Of course, this is only a problem if you see BB as a basketball management sim. I could save myself quite a few headaches and keystrokes by accepting that outside of the GE*, for the most part, its just a management sim.

*and all the ways that non-GE features affect how the game is played, so even that part is hard to do

But there have been NBA players who could play each position -- I'm looking at you Magic, LeBron, Antoine. It's uncommon, but Boom's players are uncommon. The game labels each player by only one position, so if someone has well-rounded skills, then the difference between their being labeled PG or C could be small. A solution to this could be to not have players labeled by position, or to have their positions labeled by where they play the most, similar to how their roles ("key player", "draws a paycheck", etc) are generated.

I wouldn't suggest limiting them by their label, but by the offensive position you set them at. You can play a center at pg and reassign to SG or SF, but not PF, C.

SF's would have a little more flexibility. As you noted some SF's can play all over the court (Odom from SF-C, Lebron from PG to PF, etc).

I think there's a myriad of ways you could create a training system to make cross-training feasible to replace the square-peg-round-hole solution we have now. I'm sure there are some low-cost to programming and maintenance options as well.

Disagree. Not only should every player be able to guard every position... but you should be able to assign multiple players to defend the same position.

Like when former NBBA standout Kimberly Bladder was here, I should have been allowed to set the lineup so that my PG, SF *and* C would form a triangle around him at all times. Leaving other positions totally unguarded.

& the classic example of a PG playing center was game 6 of the nba finals. When PG magic johnson starting at center scored 42 points with 15 rebs with Kareem being injured.
