Totally agree. I had the same experience with squash. A friend had been playing for years and was really good, I was totally hopeless but was so fit and fast that he could just about never hit a winner against me so I would just wear him down and down with massive rallies. At the start he always won but by the end we were about equal. I only stopped because of an injury and then he had to move to Perth for work.

Round 3

Game 2

Gisborne Gladiators vs. Geelong Vipers 76 - 62 (52064386)

This game was sown up in the 2nd where the Gladiators put the Vipers to the sword with a 23-8 quarter. The Vipers showed some venom late to get the margin back to a respectable 14 points. The Gladiators went with an inside isolation which saw a very even game offensively with no player taking over 11 shots and only one player taking under 7. The Vipers managed to slow the game down with their Patient offense and get it into the hands of their go-to man Bertens, but he was smothered all night by Dimai and shot his team out of the game with his 8-40 from the field. All said and done the Gladiators triumphed leaving them in 6th with a 2-1 record. The Vipers remain winless in 10th, however i would expect to see them win a few in the coming weeks.

3 votes - Giulio Dimai (GIS)
He gets this due to multiple factors. Firstly because he top scored for his team with 15 points off 6-10 shooting. But more importantly for his superb defensive display as mentioned above on Bertens.

2 votes - Eric Sheldon (GIS)
Sheldon was clinical from the floor with 6-9 FG for his 13 points along with 13 rebounds in his 30 minutes of playing time.

1 vote - Sam Rosales (GEE)
Rosales went 50% from the field to score the second most for his side with 11 points. However with 9 rebounds of which 3 were off the offensive glass and 3 blocks he deserves a vote. Not to mention he managed to keep his opponent Fejdasz relatively quiet.

Round 3

Game 3

Shepparton Shooters vs. Skyhook Dreamers 94 - 97 (52064384)

Game of the round i would suggest. It was a big inside vs outside battle with both sides having obvious strengths. The Shooters started off with a bang thanks to Viojan and Ratliff giving them a 13 point lead at the half. The Dreamers moved the ball alot more precisely in the 3rd quarter in their motion offense and turned the 13 point deficit into a 3 point lead with a quarter to go. It was the likes of Viojan and Pronin getting it done in the last, with Viojan looking like he had sent this one to OT with a driving layup with 12 seconds left, only for Pronin to drop a dagger in the Shooters hearts from downtown on the buzzer!! Commiserations to the Shooters who really let this one slip after a great first half. However the game is called Buzzerbeater for a reason. The Dreamers would be stoked to move to 2-1 and remain close to the playoff battle in 7th. The Shooters slip to 1-2 and 9th after this loss.

3 votes - Junel Viojan (SHE)
Talk about stuffing the stat sheet. The Violator dropped a game high 35 points of an efficient 16-26 from the field. He also monstered the glass with a game high 20 rebounds, he also chimed in with 4 assists to cap off this stellar individual night.

2 votes - Ilya Pronin (SKY)
Not much to talk about here. 30 points. 13-23 FG. Game winner. Clutch city population this guy.

1 votes - Xiong Weipeng (SHE)
This was the hardest of the votes to give with so many nice looking stat lines. However very few of them shut down their opponents. Weipeng did the best of the rest on the defensive end and had a nice 18-16 points/rebounds double double.

Round 3

Game 4

Awesome^.- vs. Whompas Donkeys 99 - 74 (52064383)

This Awesome side is certainly running on all cylinders and it showed in this one by winning all 4 quarters and dominating the hapless asses. Awesome had better points per 100 shots for every position which is an example of their dominance. Awesome's inside scoring and perimeter defense ratings were impressive, probably coupled with the Donkeys poor inside scoring led to this result.

3 votes - Remigio Eduegui (AWE)
Remigio had a game high 16 rebounds in his teams dominance on the boards. 14 points from 7-13 shooting along with 3 assists and 3 blocks caps off his night. Worthy of the 3 votes i would say.

2 votes - Muharem Mahmutefendić (AWE)
23 points and 14 rebounds was good enough for 'the fender' to secure 2 votes in this one. Had he not turned it over 4 times and allowed his opponent to lead the opposition in scoring he would have got maximum votes.

1 vote - Brent Hargrave (AWE)
Really none of the donkey's deserved a vote so the aussie gets the to single vote with his 15 points and 5 assists.

Round 3

Game 5

Home Axis vs. The Winnerz 95 - 89 (52064388)

A massive inside game here between two powerhouses. This game see-sawed as Home Axis took control in the 1st leading by 9 at the change. The Winnerz took the ascendancy over the next two quarters, only to lose the momentum in the final quarter and drop their first game of the PL season. The ratings were very similar, however the damage was done by Home Axis at the C position with Kuljovic having a superb all round game, dominating the offensive end and locking shit down on the defensive end.

3 votes - Dejan Kuljović (HAX)
Top scoring with 35 points, top rebounding with 18, and the most efficient player from the field with 15-24 FG. Kuljovic also kept his opposing C to 1-9 in his 36 minutes.

2 votes - José María Viñas (WIN)
Jose was his teams most important player scoring 30 points of 11-19 shooting, along with 8-9 from the line.

1 vote - Brandon Donnellson (HAX)
Donnellson was huge in his 31 minutes with 21 points and 14 rebounds. However he did allow Vinas to score 30 points so his defnesive work was a little less impressive.

Round 3

Game 6

Brisbane Thunder vs. UWA Panthers 65 - 108 (52064387)

The Panthers walked home with this one without any resistance from the thunder. GM Leeroy told his rabble to stick the ball in the hands of team star Faka, but it was nowhere near enough.

3 votes - Jed Feigl (SXC)

27 points, 19 rebounds, 8 offensive rebounds. what more do you want?

2 votes - Sven Tragter (SXC)

Sven had 28 points and 6 assists. However he edges out others for the 2nd spot due to his defensive work, keeping his opponent to 2-12.

1 vote - Stuey Faka’osifolau (BRI)
Stuey shot poorly but scored 39 so desrves a mention i guess.
