Well they came first so they deserve the reward.

Perhaps there is too big of a gap, however, perhaps the team should simply try and do better.

Another solution would be that players do not get paid salary during playoffs/offseason.

simply^^ If you beleive it or not, i believe in a league a 16 teams who try to get better that don't work for every body especially when you are saying that those guys are dumb when they don't calculate a three week breack, which actually means in my league that they just pay 5/6 of my old salary so that they don't fall back because of their season end placement.

I mean teams which are kicked out of playoff in 1st and 2nd round. They could play against each other. That would create participation in the PO even more lucrative.

In advance - best of these losers could get any subcup or something, maybe face winner from other league to get promoted?

I never said that.

Anyway, I understand that this is more of a problem in higher divisions. But wouldn't giving each team a certain amount of money depending where they finish solve this? Because 5th place will lose a lot of income normally, but this cash bonus for coming 5th would help reduce this.

What about my offered solution of managers not having to pay player and staff salaries for the playoffs/offseason?

It would be too easy to boost up your team. Buy high salary players just before playoff. Pay no salary, sell them when playoffs are over. Perhaps there should be no income from attendance in playoffs, just give everyone an amount of money for finishing at their position. This ofcourse would not urge anyone to do well in playoffs (if you know you are not going to win the league anyway). We could counter that with giving a small bonus for every advancement in playoffs.

not if the first placed team get more money, in this case it get even more extrem in this case it won't 1,3 Mio difference it would be +X more.

personally my favorite, that teams don't have to pay salaries, at the moment they have no games anymore, and this isn't that unrealisitc - my favorite basketball team said that season for example that they loose money during the PO when they don't make it to their second home game(you need three win to suceed), because of the bonusses they had to pay and they announce that in a pretty general like it is the same for the other teams.

well after reading the previous replies, I think that the suggestion about stopping the staff and players salaries fair enough after the final home game for teams that doesn't have anymore arena revenue.

Yes but this solution is not competitive. Why to compensate something, when everyone will be compensated?
