There is one real effect that is the psycological effect on the coach. When training older players in something that takes a long time to train like OD or JR the coach can get frustrated and make bad decisions. If instead you are training 1on1 when they are older you will still see a pop every week or two and be encouraged to keep on training.

That's kinda what I meant when I said "thanklessly slow."

I hear what youre saying on this one. Ive not been playing long enough to be training 24 - 25 year olds so I cant really comment on that.

The thing is my bro (kensei) and me were discussing how much passing a SG should have. For me I like my guards with at least strong + passing. SG included. he was quite ok with respectable passing. Hence The post as we were wondering what everyone else thought.

His main scorings prob from his bigs. Assuming he takes my advice and spends on a decent PF/C. So all the more passings important as his trainees are his starters?

Opinions?

Contact me in 6 seasons when I'm training OD and JR on a 25yo to test the elastic effect. ;)

I'll take as much passing as possible on everyone, and this includes C/PF, where it's entirely free. I'm at the point where I want a bare minimum of prolific on my starters, I just haven't been able to assemble/train it into reality yet.

One question does anyone know if this "free" passing will also affect the salary cap? My best player is an All-Star shooting guard. He isn't capped yet but he can't be that far off it. If boosting his passing a lot meant he could be trained efficiently for longer I would do it.

How is not training a guard's passing "efficient"?

Passing: Helps to create good shots (and get assists). Bad passing can also lead to turnovers.

Offensive Flow (how well the offense produces assists, avoids turnovers): point guard weighted very heavily, shooting guard weighted medium, small forward weighted medium.

Also, I'm quite convinced that potential caps have nothing to do with salary, and only have to do with total skills and where they're distributed. So yeah, it will probably have some sort of effect on his potential cap.

By efficient I mean training before he is capped. He will still get some "accidental" training in JS and 1on1 once he is capped but I wont be putting him into PG for 48+ to get passing training once he is capped.

Other people tell me a similar thing too. I have had it suggested that all star is around 100 skill points in total excluding stamina and free throws, but I still think some count for more than others.

Passing does cost...I have a PG with Wondrous passing and he is making 68K a week and another with sensational passing(everything else is basicly the same) and he is only making 47K....Passing is not free...
