That's what I think too. It's too complex, since the level of the other skills also plays a role, etc. I once heard some discussions where people said that JS would suffer less if you trained it later, but I didn't see any compelling evidence.

Yes that was how i wanted to phrase it. I was thinking that certain skills were better to train at certain ages. Obviously 18 is the best to train the skill. I was thinking maybe some things take longer to train, would it be smarter to train the things that take 2-3 weeks to pop as of 1.8-2 weeks to pop at a younger age.

Mathematical speaking, youd get more pops if you did all the 1-2 week training regimes the first 2 years then worry about the other training options when he is 20-21. Im not sure if this makes sense how i wrote it or what not.

WIth elastic effect 22 can train faster than 18, I've seen it happen.

My guy just popped OD twice in a row at 19 y/o, 18 I trained 1on1 F for weeks on end, to set up a good elastics situation, also some ID training.

I think many will testify that an 18 y/o still usually takes 2 weeks to pop OD. So you could spend 8 weeks for 4 pops as things just slow down anyway as you go, staying that speed. Or you could to 4 weeks of 1on1 (or about 8 like i did ;)) and then hope for those 4 pops of OD to happen in about 6 weeks, and its not like the time you spend on 1on1 is wasted, DR is useful (opinoin, some disagree) and IS and JS pops don't exactly kill the player...(1on1 and JR training is the only place i get JS pops since i have a religious belief which forbids JS training ;) Its a religon revolving aroudn teh correct development of playerse and not ruining them with capping early and excessive salaries.


My experience in training can confirm all of the above. My 22y old popped twice in a row in JR which is the slowest skill to train for a guard, all because other guard skills were much above JR level.

I'm using exactly the same method as you, save for ID. I think 1 on 1 is the best thing to train first for at least 4-6 weeks and then continue with OD, PA and JR. Btw, I also don't use the JS training; JR and 1 on 1 train it enough.

Right now my 19y/o is an SF build. I might be messing up his elastics a bit, I am taking him all around build and I did some JR for a few weeks with no pops, I think I jumped the gun . I need to stil with teh 1on1 F for longer, but I am just so eager to get him to single position training and get his OD adn scoring up.


His height (196 cm) is slowing things down a bit IMO. If he, by any case, had low sublevel of JR when you started with training, then 3 weeks without pop is certainly a possibility even at 19y. I needed 3 weeks for JR to pop on my 201 cm, 18y old (JR is the highest of skills right now, unfortunately I have to follow training regime for my U21 player).

I am also trying to find players with holes in their skillset and train them, but it's becoming harder and harder when you have a training regime to follow.It's easier with NT players because you don't care if you do that OD training now or in few weeks, but that's not the case with U21 when you have to take into account U21 manager's wishes, your team's plans and elastic effect. Luckily Polh has only one more season of 1-pos training in him, so soon he will end the "training terror" he was having on my team for three straight seasons now.

Chinese said they train OD first because JR gets its' elastic effect from OD. I don't know if I can believe that or not, but the guy said he got double pop on JR because of that (OD was 16 or so and JR was around 5-6).

I know my training regime will alwas be 1 on 1 first, then OD. And after that, JR and/or PA.

I'm training PG's right now and i'm taking in account this and so my best trainee has 20 years and OD 14 going for 16 and JR 8.
I looking for the elastic effect for next season so will find out pretty soon.My secondaries are pretty high and the player would be a good SF since his IS and ID are 9 at the moment.

About JS i would agree 100% no JS training only JR and 1on1, because i had a player a few season back that whent from 16 to 20 by training only JR when he was 22-23 yo.So no need for JS training in my opinion.
