Now this is the type of list I'm talking about.

Mo was better than all these suckers and I hate the yankees. It seems that you chose the first 5 on your list based upon the fact that they all rocked an epic 'stache. Is this true?

Yes, the whiskers got Fingers the #1 spot, and the only reason Gossage is ahead of Quisenberry (which is the coolest freaking name in the history of sports) is because Goose is a great name and Q-berry pitched sidearm, and I couldn't just stack him and Eckersley together.

I put Browning on there because he was the only Reds pitcher I could remember from back when I actually paid any attention to baseball.

lol, i was waiting for someone to make a list of baseball closers and/or mention Kyra Sedgwick.

I put Browning on there because he was the only Reds pitcher I could remember from back when I actually paid any attention to baseball.

Rob Dibble should be memorable? he pitched around the same time. after a save, he once threw a ball 400 feet into the center field stands & hit a pregnant elementary school teacher on the elbow! (the ball then bounced into her husband's Coke.) he also got in a few brawls & even tried to throw a ball into a player's back from close range. you've got to remember some of that...

Ah, yes, Dibble. I remember that he used to rip the sleeve of his uniform so it wouldn't hinder his pitching motion.

Another story: Ellis is pitching on May 1, 1974 against the Reds, before the game, tells his teammates he's going to hit every batter. First batter: Pete Rose, HBP. Next two: Joe Morgan and Dan Driessen. Plunked. Aims at Tony Perez, Perez ducks away from all of them and draws a walk. Throws two pitches at Johnny Bench's head and gets pulled. Baseball in the 70s must've been amazing.
