The answers are already above, but as playoff time approaches there will also be a notice on the players that says when they must be listed by in order to make the playoffs.
If you're selling the player, of course, you can list him any time, but if he's not eligible for the playoffs on the new team the price received may be reduced. You can certainly list him so that his auction ends during/just after your last game safely.
