Don't worry about it! Most of your rosters' salary should around 2k if you just start this game at IV level. What you have to do is, either buy 2-3 good player and reach level III on the next season, or keep your team become the number 5-7 seeds, to higher the chance to get a MVP+ young player.
Beside, it seems like this is a money/ stock game more than a basketball game, if you are unable to make enough money each home game, your team can't go far
