F the Astros, they always trade the good ones, next on list
Carlos Lee
f the Astros, you talk about baseball here.
F THE Astros, they lose again! Arrrrggghhh this is why I'm a Yankees fan
Speaking professionally here....
Carlos Lee has been deadweight in Houston for years. there's no sense keeping an 18mil a year salary SLugger, when you don't have anyone to get on base. When you don't have pitching to win close games. And when the guy is a horrible fielder, and should be a DH in the near future. Trading him was a great move. What wasn't so great, is having to pay part of his salary for the Marlins still.
With Lee gone, Houston can finally begin rebuilding, which they haven't been able to do, or begin. They have been in sore need of the rebuilding too ever since, Bagwell retired, biggio retired, and they traded Berkman. Berkman and Lee at same time, maybe they still could have been competitive, especially since they had a younger Hunter Pence at that time too. But there were bad decisions made in the front office. Now, the organization is trying to wipe itself clean of that bad chocies, and big salary players when they can't compete.
Honestly... They're taking a page from what the Pirates did a few years ago when they nerfed out everyone but McCutchen. It worked for Pirates... Lets see how Houston fares in a few seasons...
But thats just my humble opion as someone 10 years removed from professional baseball.
