I wouldn't be surprise if there are some player using PED, but not like it used to be in Baseball and some other sportsl. Do I think there are a lot of players smoking weed though...you bet!

But why not? :)
It“s not like they don“t have a lot of incentive to do it, and very little chance of ever getting caught.

They use PEDs most of the time, not to be better on the court, but to recovery faster...imagine those huge bodies to play 3-4 games in a week plus all that traveling...Some rumors where saying that the kidney problems that Moorning had where connected with that kind of PEDs...

Thats why most athletes... save Olympic track/swimmer people, and NFL football people. use steroids, the recovery.

Pitchers use steroids 200% as much as hitters, but honestly, nobody cares when a pitcher juices except for Clemens. People don't want to admit, even if Clemens did't juice, he'd still have thrown that hard at an old age (for reference, check Nolan Ryan, Sandy Koufax, Randy Johnson), but... he probably wouldn't have been pitching near as many innings as he did in fairness.

Being an ex-mlb minor league player myself, my personal philosophy. "I would like to see all steroid users, caught, proven, etc. Banned. Like, Joe Jackson, Pete Rose kind of banned. permanently. What defiles the game more? Betting your team will win? Being accused of throwing a world series, or knowing teammates were and not doing anything? Or, breaking records, and getting your name in history books, having all your memorbilia (which is like stock practically) soar in value? Bonds was a 500/500 guy before steroids... he was already HOF, but he got jealous of McGwire and Sosa crap being worth more, and getting more publicity, so he juices. Now he's a disgrace. Bud Selig's inconsistencies with everything is single handedly helping ruin baseball. Ppl are starting to accuse Rickey Henderson of juicing now... Rickey! If Rickey was juicing I'll give my paycheck to Bud Selig personally!

Strike them all from the books, ban them from the leagues, (bonds, palmerio, sosa, mcgwire, grimsey, clemens, braun, ramirez, caminitti, giambi, etc. etc. tulo once hes caught), and bring up minor leaguers/college players/etc that have a respect for the game. Game will be just as interesting to watch, if not more. What they did was way worse than Pete Rose...

I could not agree more.

I don“t know much about baseball but the same thing annoys me in the olympics. I hate to se former medal winners returning from a ban and then competing for more medals.

Oh, got to add this qoute. I know it is probably more about the hassle of having to do the test but for this thread it was pure gold:

"..Kobe Bryant was chosen to take a mandatory drug test following Team USA's quarterfinal victory Australia on Wednesday, according to a source.

Bryant didn't return to the hotel until 2 AM.

Bryant led the United States with 20 points.

Grant Hill told the media in July that all Team USA players in 1996 tried to avoid becoming the leading scorer due to the likelihood of being chosen for a random drug test...."

trust me, it is VERY boring as a player too... not nearly as bad as watching on TV... but quite boring still.

I wish I could translate the example with as much knowledge and passion to a different sport (such as basketball), but I unfortuneately cannot.

As to... other guy who posted in reply to me. You mean Gatlin specifically right? I agree with that. I have a friend from SH who prior to the 2000 Olympics failed a drug test... (marijuana) so could not compete, despite having made the olympics. Should have been there if he made smarter choices. When Michael Phelps got busted, by 700 people, at a party, on youtube, etc. I was like... so, how come this guy gets to be special and keep coming back etc.? Because he had already gotten his gold medals. My friend, was unfortunate to have it happen before the playing even began, so he was not above the law like Phelps.

The hypocrisy in sports is ridiculous.

absolutely!

Gatlin is one, but there is several more.

One example is Tatyana Lysenko, russian hammer thrower.. She was caught for peds in 2007. Was banned for two years and now she is back and won gold in the Olympics.

Robert Harting may or may not be doping but the gold winner in discus has a coach which is as shady as they come. His coach was one of east germanys infamous dopecoaches.

I was watching the discus finals and really, really hoped he would not win...but of course he did.
