That is a question that cannot be answered in a "black or white" manner. The decision whom to play at SF is and will be a decisive moment for close games, and I´ve won (and lost) games due to missmatches at this position.

I prefer a game-by-game decision about the use of the teams ressources - I´m not the kind of coach to run a S5 and wait for good things to come but to alter lineups in combination with tactics in different ways and using players - if they somehow fit the needs - on different positions over the course of a season.

While this might fail badly on NT teams, where the players are heavily specialized, the raw material of U21 players and the "holes" in opponents lineups might open up ways of using even a limited amount of overall skill to create missmatches and surprises.

So going back to your question:

I love guards who are able to pass and PFs who are able to defend aswell as PG types with high Driving / Inside Shot at SF. Which of those three types will be used is based on tactics, opponent, player material available and a "mad scientist" influence.

A couple of short questions.

Why have you decided to run in England rather than your own nations? Not saying theres anything wrong with that, just wondering.

Have you considered that you might get bored or become too busy to stay fully involved during your term?

so I'm not an active member on the forums (I'm quite lazy, but I'll try and change!) and I have the feeling that the English community isn't really involved in the development of the U21 team.
My question is, what are you concrete ideas to involve managers like me? And also, what is the role your scouts are going to have in this?

The reason I decided to run for the English U21 is that England is an uprising community on the brink of what it takes to become "an active and self organized" nation. I don´t want to be offensive towards former U21 coaches, but I think the influence of foreign dominated coaches who seemed not to be focused on the community was too strong, so I tried to get involved with a uniting approach.

That brings me to another question raised later:

I am not only proposing that the UK users get involved, my whole plan doesn´t work if there´s no support from the local managers. The success of any NT and U21 team is based on multiple coaches participating - some by scouting, some by training, others by giving insight in tactics, opponents and others, and ALL contributing in making it a great experience for the whole community.

There´s nothing worse than an NT coach running his own campaign without getting "his country involved".

In this aspect, it seems that my opponent Morwood is taking a very similar approach and will fulfill the need for communication and - key to any forum - entertainment as well as you can wish. It´s highly entertaining following his posts, and I´m sure he will be a great communicator.

Talking about my planned use of scouts and inexperienced coaches who want to contribute:

Scouts can be helpful in numerous ways - scouting players first, then beeing an advisor to the coaches who own them and try to train them to further glory, scouting opponents and keeping an eye on tactics and players used and of course mapping the transfer activity and making sure that coaches who might be interested in training UK U21 and NT prospects get their hands on those instead of bored newbies or "foreigners" who don´t see the necessity to train a player at all or at least useful.

If you want to get involved, there´s always a way to get things going - and like I tried to clear up before, it´s my aim to make the UK coaches take over soon, so the more they get involved from the start, the better it is.

it looks to me that we have two very interested and capable candidates, but we can only have 1 winner.

Well, there´s not much to add to Morwood.

I´m willing to work with everyone, but if you choose Morwood, I don´t think he would -need- me to help him. I would just be taking a place in the coaching or scouting staff that an English Coach could fill, so I think it would be better not to stand in the way.

I've messaged the previous u21 manager a numerous times during the whole of last season without response to try and get some sort of input with regard to exactly what you are looking for to support the u21 team - brick wall.

I've trained pure single positions last season dedicated to 2 players, thrown my place in the EBBL to train and build an all English team...
