Or more simply, make forfeits the first part of what determines draft order, and then record and the rest of the tiebreakers. Forfeit a game and nobody else does, you pick 16th, end of story. The only exception that needs to be made is if a new owner takes over for a team, the forfeits before the owner took over should not count against the current owner.

Forfeits should also cause teams to lose training for the week and lose TV income. Problem solved.

I isn't pure sarcasm.
This idea works completly opposite than expected so it's bad idea. You want to create difficulties for teams, which fight in unsportsmanlike way for 1st pick, however this change would help them. Currently if two or more teams "fight" for 1st pick then sometimes one of them decides to forfeit. It means his training in this game is lost. If forfeits are penalized then this team will not forfeit but try to lose by the most possible points difference. So nothing will change, competition still will be distorted however teams fighting for 1st pick will be in better situation because they will receive training, there will be more reasons to do it.

How dare someone forget to set their lineup once every few years or so. How dare them , who gives a damn if these people have family members who have passed away or personal problems. How dare they not set their lineup , show no mercy to these selfish persons

Yes this is true but how does this help someone like me who trains 3 trainees and has to manage gameshape on a small roster , theres no point in me using a default lineup atall , what i do is immediately set my lineup within 1 day of my last game when i see my cumulative minutes for the week as well as how my trainees are doing. This is my point sometimes for whatever reason i forfeit a match by accident ( less than 1 per season on average) but it does happen.

But you could always set a default so that just in case you forget, your still at least fielding a team. Youre still at least giving your team a chance to win and giving your opponent a chance to have proper minutes and a proper game.

On second thoughts i agree with you , ive just always had a habit of not doing it though. I figure if i set a default i might forget its only my default lineup and mess up my minutes by mistake

I don't speak about 1 or 2, it can happened, but in my league, one player have 13 forfeits and another one 9 forfeits.
I meet them 2 times in a season, so 4 game where the training and the other stuff (minutes, stats) is "cancelled" (I can't find another word sorry) for me.
