I like the 12 minute quarters. Plus, that'd be less minute opportunities for training. I suppose 40 minutes could become the new 48.

The only reason to actually consider using 10-minute quarters would be to make results less predictable. The shorter the game and the fewer possessions, the more likely the worse team is to pull an upset.
Game shape and training would have to be recoded for fewer minutes, obviously.
I don't have a preference, but I also don't see a reason to change.
