Its funny when i read this, because i didn't really think of the friends list (or Buddy List) as a social networking type of feature, but as a new user I could see how this would be used.

So just for the record, i don't use the buddy list for my buddies on BuzzerBeater - My buddies are in my league, or i know which leagues they are in and I just communicate through the forums with them.

Or we formed a federation, so we use that. I don't know of too many user's that use the Buddy List as a 'social networking' type feature, but there are probably users who do.

sooooo yer, i don't use it. Should it be a Supporter feature only? mmmmmm..... maybe? Not sure. I dont see why it has to be. I dont see it as a game changer though.

Even just to speak with other people from around your country or make new friends from other places. It could also be used to keep in touch with U21 or NT managers.
So many reasons but all in the name of social networking on a site that brings together people from everywhere.
The buddy list is a basic feature on all sites. It's an automatic. Like the #5 on your phone.

Its a feature that is on social networking sites, like facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace etc etc.

Its not a feature of ALL websites, particularly forum based internet sites, which BB is more focused towards.

Most community 'forum' based websites do not have a 'friends' based thing unless you are a paid/logged in member. StackExchange is a really good example of this, where you can join StackExchange or loging via your FB account, much like this website, such that adding friends is a members only feature.

BB allows you to login via your facebook account - im not sure if this automatically links your FB friends that on BB as well, so you might want to check that out to see if this satisfies your friend-ing requirement. I haven't logged in via my FB account, so i can't comment too much on this.

Just because a site has a forum page does not make it a forum based site.
A forum page or FAQ or a place like a community page is also a basic feature.
This is not a forum based site, it's a game. Games have buddy's.
This site even promotes a social aspect as you try to play against managers from everywhere and 'collect' flags.
Please don't get caught up in the semantics of 'all'. I'm sure anyone could find an opposite example. I'm sure I can find many more that support me. Like Urban Rivals comes to mind.
Friend lists are basic features.
I'm not on Facebook so I wouldn't know either.
