Yes, height only has an impact on training, not on the way they play.

If I was you I'd train these 2 guys. Specifically I'd train ID at C position 48+ minutes for both every week. They are not too old that they won't get pops. I'd just keep training ID, because it's a useful skill, it will train faster than other 'inside' skills since it's quite low for both players and tbh you should spend the money on your arena rather than players if you have a little patience.

Bottom line: train ID at C, keep building the arena and reassess at the end of the season when better trainees may become available at the beginning of next season (so maybe stop building the arena 1 or 2 weeks before the last ticket pricing update, the one before the playoffs, so that you will have some money to spend if the right trainees come along).

Check other threads for arena building suggestions from more experienced managers!

Thanks, I think I've been focusing too much on trying to bring up every category for these two players which has led to me changing training type every week.

I got the same advice from another member, so I think I'll go with the ID strategy for now and then take things from there...

It's funny you mention the arena building, as I was just reading those threads and decided sometime last week that building up my arena will be my goal for the next 1-2 seasons.

I just managed to turn a 200%+ return on a player who I acquired about a month ago and never really trained... Makes me wonder what some of the guys I have trained could go for in this market... So with that in mind I'm kind of tempted to strip down my team to the bare minimum and sell everyone other than a 2-3 trainees so I can jump-start my arena building (I've been pouring in whatever I can which only amounts to around $80k a week)...

Yes, market is volatile right now. If you can, make some profit :)

I say train them until they are 24-25...plus your fans will support the team more due the familiarity you would build up by keeping consistency amongst your roster...also...you can receive a nice payday if you choose to sell them in a few seasons...or can keep them as your starters while you focus on training rookies and younger players...also i believe in training players to their strengths while improving on their weaknesses...my two pieces of copper

if you choose to sell them in a few seasons
I plan on selling every 4-6 seasons. After this season it'll be 3 more seasons to go. Just to create a new challenge every now and again and possible go homegrown sooner rather than later.
I may end up keeping my best young players haven't quite thought it through yet.

Heading on the right path so far. Are you?

So I've been forging ahead and training the two players I originally mentioned - I have a question though -

When training big man skills I've been doing the following training rotation:

Week 1: IS
Week 2: REB
Week 3: SB
Week 4: ID

With the intention of eventually cutting out SB so that my 3 week rotation is:

Week 1: IS
Week 2: REB
Week 3: ID

Rather than rotating big skills every week would I be better off training each skill multiple weeks in a row and then changing the skill to train every few weeks?

*After I complete a 4 or 3 week cycle I will occasionally train other skills. Since Gerry Veilleux is very well rounded, I try to shoehorn him into whatever training I'm doing to maximize his pops.

As a rough guideline to check wether a player is worth training, an 18yo should have around 50 TSP at the start of the year, and for every year above 18 the player should have around 10 more skillpoints. As said, this is a rough guideline because if the player has great secondary skills he can have lower TSP, and if he is trained only in primary skills or only driving/handling he'll need more skills to be worthwhile. Potential is a bit less important if you're not too familiar with training; anything from allstar and higher can be worthwhile to train, the lower the potential the more diverse you need to train though.
