From your first term as NT coach: What have you learned and what do you think your biggest mistake was?

2 things, one major, one minor:

#1 Major issue was the attitude towards enthusiasm. In Hattrick, teams endlessly gather Team Spirit (same as enthusiasm) over the course of the tournament(s).

Here, you can't do that. You have to be willing to spend enthusiasm at the appropriate times, and not gamble that you can get away with not going all out to look to the future - you may not get there.

Here's an example:

(1081)

Now, I've learned:

(5587)

A certain Italian proclaimed that CT to be suicide. Yet, we came within 3 points of the final.

#2 The minor thing I learned was that stamina and free throw, while important, should not be a dealbreaker for adding a player to the roster. Basil Faust, come on down.

You seem to be taking an angry/aggressive approach juice. Can we try to be nice and constructive?

I would like to know how you guys plan to get more people involved in the NT system and how the up and coming teams can contribute.

I'm not angry in the least - we're playing a game.

People are (and have been for 3 times around now) been asking me tough, pointed questions.

I think I've earned the right to do the same, especially when a portion of someone's speech is directed at me, correct?

I also don't understand the "constructive" comment. What am I missing?

I know Juice and Coco have both had an open door policy for participating in U21 and NT. They have made their strategies transparent on the NT forum and its the fault of the individual if they don't sign up on the forum to help out because they have announced on the BB forums every time they put up their game strategy.

I was brand new to the game and was still able to assist and learn from their experience. I don't think I would have crushed my league this past season without both their friendly advises.

We're constantly soliciting opinions on the offsite forums, and we want as many people, new, old, tall, short, D.IV, NBBA, whoever, to participate and offer insights, etc.

This isn't a solo mission by any means - I posted a couple of weeks ago that united we stand, divided we fall.

In the elite levels of the NT world, that's never been more true.

We also track a lot of players, and the only criteria to be able to train an NT-caliber player is to own one.

It doesn't matter who owns a player, if they get effective training, they're in the mix.

Finally, I want to resurrect the chat site we had for Season 3-4 - it really did a great job of getting everyone together.

ended up paying off with a semifinal date with Germany. Only if that layup by Grubbs hadn't rolled off the rim...

you just might have my vote if you promist to teach proper lay-up technique ;)

Grubbs' owner is a real curmudgeon, so it's very difficult, but if we have him in camp I promise to stay as far away as possible to allow someone who is better than layups than I to teach him.

you are right in that Juice does not go around giving everyone Gold Stars for attendance....
however every time I have send him a BB message he has responded, responded quickly, and has directed me as needed.

So warm and fuzzy? no. as to him being 'angry'...well he does have an edge. but to me, Juice has shown that he is not just capable, but successful.

I definitely did not want to come off as angry, I'm definitely not angry.

As for aggressive (go to about 3:45):

Juice: how do you explain the loss against Australia (which arguably made everything more complicated)? none of our peer countries (Spain, Italy, the Netherlands) lost against them.

In particular, how would you put us in a position where our success does not depend on an (exciting, but costly) streak of risky gambles?

Australia was the first game of the tournament, and we actually ended up getting the tactics right, but the combination of getting 29 minutes out of our starting center (with 5 fouls) and Australia getting home court advantage hurt us.

Remember that the game was tied with the clock showing :00 at the end of regulation, and had we not committed a foul at the end of regulation we had a solid chance to win.

Spain and Italy also had a chance to build enthusiasm before taking them on - we opened the tournament with them. The Netherlands game was a scrimmage, so no telling what happened with the Australia roster between their elimination and their scrimmage.

We're definitely better than Australia all things considered. A win in that game would have made it easier, but things happen and you have to deal with them as they come.
