I am looking to abandon LI offence as it is extremely boring and I would like a new challenge. Part of me thinks that moving this player to SF would allow me to play patient as well as playing princeton from time to time.

I really appreciate the input, thanks!

There is nothing wrong with guards with inside skills. But at that age and height it just doesn't seem like a smart move.

I find it interesting that you consider this player old...

Typically I train my top players until they are 26, especially if they are Canadian.

A little late at age 23 to train OD up to excellent SF standards?

What do you consider "excellent" OD for a SF?

I think prominent would be plenty especially if I intended to play him against teams that used a SG as a SF.

Hey everybody,
I'm currently with my second team (I lost my first team due to inactivity). I still don't have the best knowledge of BB, and with my new team I'm trying to get more trainees than veterans. After a few misguided transfers, I'm currently working on making my team younger. I'm making about $27,000 a week with only 10 players on my roster.

Currently, my best trainee is a 6'0" SF (who, undoubtedly, I'll be training as a guard due to his being undersized).

Weekly salary: $ 2 766
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 17400
Age: 19
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: perennial allstar
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: proficient Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: average ↑ Handling: average
Driving: strong Passing: average
Inside Shot: atrocious Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: awful
Stamina: awful Free Throw: respectable

Experience: atrocious

As you can see, I've been training OD, and I think he should be a pretty good trainee for a team in D5, but I just feel I need a more experienced opinion about it. Am I on the right track, and what else should I be working on?

I agree with Manon about the OD. In D5, strong or proficient OD is all you need. After that, I would go with PA until it is also strong or proficient. If you want a PG, the highest skills should be JS/OD/PA. If you want an SG, highest skills should be JS/JR/OD. If you want a combo guard, then most of his skills should be close, with OD/PA being one or two levels above the others.
When he turns 20, I would personally work on his HA/DR a bit with One on One for Guards. If you want an offensive guard, his end build may look a little like this: 14/10/12/13/15/13. This will give him a 41k salary, put at 86-95% of his cap space, and would be a formidable guard in D3. If you want defensive, he may look a bit like this: 13/10/16/12/14/11. This gives a 36k salary and puts him at 85-93% of his cap. A word of caution, however: try not to get his JR/HA/PA too high, as it will eat into his cap room and salary.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll probably train him to be a PG or combo guard, with a focus on offense.

Would I be able to train another player with a different build at the same time, or would that slow it down too much? I'm probably going to try to get another trainee in the draft.
