ratings are based on game performance versus the skill itself.

you can have sensational jump shooters and rate mediocre in outside scoring

Season 13 - Matchday 1

Great 8

Prov City Investors @ 1Derz Bangerz was the first match of the day between one classic Great 8 team, and an ever improving young squad led by none other than their captain Gael Carmona. Bangerz were coming off a respectable finish in season 12, making the playoffs, and wanted to get off to a good start after starting slow but finishing strong last season. They did just that in a solid team performance with multiple assists and points coming from every position. They took the game 98-73. PCI used their usual conservative tactics of TIE against teams they feel are stronger at the moment, and even had Carmona sit as a backup to get him ready for their next match against No Potential who the Investors feel they have a better chance at beating.

The Illusion @ Chicago Goats is always a great rivaly matchup that fans were drooling over in anticipation during the offseason. Goats brought in a brand new pf/c in Francisco Candía in an attempt to give Patridge some assistance down low, and the two of them worked well together shooting a combined 20-34 with 50 pts and 40 rbs. Looking at the big men duo's stats in comparison to Illusions 32-91 shooting you would have guessed the Goats won easy, but their combined 10 turnovers held them back and the game went to Barr and Co. 96-85.

Roxas City Red Claws @ No Potential was a game that let two brand new teams to League III.4 shows us what they have. They looked pretty evenly matched for the first 3 quarters, but the 4th quarter revieled who actually does have some potential with an impressive 32-17 4th quarter domination. No Potential earned their 98-87 victory. Don't be decieved by their name, because these guys can play some ball.

Armaggedons @ Indiana Gavno was a high scoring thriller, but the victor was no surprise. Gavno 133-106. As usual Chow and Garnier dominated inside, and helped their team out-rebound Oconnell and crew by 54 rebounds. On a side note Gavno is attempting to sell these terrific bigs for the reason that I would assume salaries that have sky rocketed. The only thing that kept Armaggedons from feeling demoralized by the defeat was the 20 turnovers they forced on Gavno.

Big 8

E.C. High-Flyers @ San Diego Crusaders was a perfect example of the strength teams that have been in this league for a while gain compared to a newly promoted team. Three players on the Flyers squad recorded double-doubles led by Mario Mannu on a very efficient scoring night for the whole squad. The Crusaders will try to forget their math 1 result and be looking forward to up-coming games. Flyers 101-83.

Marrieta Magic @ Cleveland Crazys was a big 8 classic and also the last game many of Magic's players will play in this league. Maybe they shouldn't have left because the whole team finally seemed to gel in a tough fought 111-107 win. Phillip German battled admirably with a 41 pt effort but it wasnt enough to thwart the Magic.

Champaign @ TDX Dutchmen was an interesting matchup between a newly demoted team, and a team with 1 year in this league under their belt. Both teams were trying to get off to a good start, Dutchmen had 3 players with double-doubles (almost 4), but their efforts weren't enough against Champaign who want to promote back to Div II. Champaign 103-91.

Tachenko @ Red Terrors was another old versus new battle with a casual result. Mayagoitia's return was well anticipated and he led his team to an easy 93-77 victory. Both teams had a similar number of rebounds, but when one player has 20 of them you know that's a problem for the other teams guy guarding him.

The Nightly Notable goes to Clay Chow, the reigning MVP, for his disturbingly dominate performance with 46 pts, 20 rbs, and 8 ast.

I realized at the beginning my comments were way too long so I shortened them for the latter ones. It is actually quite fun doing these so look for more in the future. Leave me any comments on what you think I can do better.

Matchday#2 7-6-10

Great 8

Indiana Gavno @ The Illusion was not the most memorable battle between the two top teams of the Great 8. Gavno had just 5 players on their roster and missed their recently transfered MVP Clay Chow. They weren't completely helpless though especially down low where Garnier, Ambreixo, and Hanslik were strong. Their efforts weren't enough and the outside oriented Illusion squad picked them apart for a solid 99-73 win.

Chicago Goats @ Roxas City Red Claws ended in a suprising result. Red Claws 96-74. After seeing the box score the result became much more believable. What can a manager expect when they TIE and play a rookie guard 48 minutes at pf? In addition, Goats down low duo Candia, and Patridge were no where to be seen. The Red Claws did well to take advantage.

No Potential @ Prov City Investors was a classic Carmona and crew taking of chances with one new ingredient. They had a big man help out on the score sheet! No Potential's backcourt fought tirelessly to keep them in the game, but they were no match for a higher enthusiastic PCI squad. Did I mention 6 Investors scored in double-digits, looks like Carmona now has a supporting cast. 130-99.

1Derz Bangerz @ Armageddons was a match covered with paint. Both teams used the look inside tactic and the more experienced side won. Bangerz 93-80. Again they were led by Beavers who showed Oconnell that he's not good enough to tweet to fans before the game how he's going to make Beavers "look like a 12 year old girl" just yet.

Big 8

Red Terrors @ Marietta Magic ended up being in mostly one teams key despite both teams attempting to play a low post offense. Magic should sign the backboard as their new pg because, phew, that thing had a lot of assists. Sean Ryan was heard laughing at the Red Terrors big men, and made comments on the lines of suggesting they change their name to the "Red Ponies" because "there's nothing terrifying about them". Magic 96-87.

Cleveland Crazys @ E.C. High-Flyers would have been closer had both teams played with the same effort. Flyers 96-79. Mannu and his boys out rebounded the Crazys, but turned it over more. Phillip German played 4 minutes, which is also a contributing factor as to the large margin of victory between two very competitive Great 8 squads.

TDX Dutchmen @ Tachenko was mostly a one sided afair that fans couldn't get too excited about. Dutchmen put less effort into the match, and couldn't keep up with Tachenko's depth. Mayagoitia got some rest in a comprehensive 92-75 victory.

San Diego Crusaders @ Champaign was supposed to be slow paced offensively, but Crusaders full court press tactics created tons of chances, unfortunately for them it went both ways. They scored a lot off turnovers, but when the greased up fingers of the Champaign squad could complete a pass across half court they scored more often than not. champaign 123-108.

The Nightly Notable goes to two players
First off is Daniel Saussereau of the Champaign, on a night that was dominated by small forwards his near triple-double with 25 pts, 9rbs, and 9ast made him stand out. Second is Mario Mannu of the E.C. High-Flyers for his also near triple-double of 15pts, 22rbs, and 9ast.
