this is so easy to fix i just cant believe it

the real problems are 5th place and 8th place suck, 8th perhaps should but why does 5th?

issues
1) no games on the first tuesday ruin training in the penultimate week
2) no income for two weeks

so the simple thing is to have an "exhibition match" betwee the two 5th place teams (and the two 8th place teams if we are feeling generous)

it takes place at the home arena of the team with the better record
it lets both teams schedule training
and to compensate the teams a little (but not make it better than coming 4th) first half the normal gate (it is an exhibition match, 1/2 price seating) then instead of the home team getting 2/3 make it interesting and let the winner get 2/3 and the loser gets 1/3 - so for example i take in about 200k a match, if i was hosting an "exhibition match" there would be 100k in the pool 66k for the winner and 33k for the loser - obviously in higher leagues this would be a lot more

it wont be much, but it will be much, much better than getting nothing

This leads always to curious situations, lwith highlights like this game -> (23028923).

I see several possibilities how to avoid walkovers as a tactical choice in battle for "better" (lower) position.
If walkover team is home one then no arena income for this match.
If walkover team is away one then no arena income for next home match.
But still teams should set extremly bad lineup without walkover - it should lead to very unhappy fans and very bad match income next time.

I can imagine even harder conditions for walkovers:
- automatic relegation for every team with any walkover (either one level down or to the bottom level)
- in draft order first teams without walkover and behind them all teams with any walkover
- no training at all for the week with walkover

Way way way way way too harsh! Some teams have accidental walkovers by not setting a lineup or some other accident. Doesn't mean they should get no training, get last draft pick and get automatically relegated.

about the training thing i could discuss, i don't think it is to hard but i believe thats another topic ;)

And about the draft thing, i want at least a reversed order with the tie breaker, so that you don't profit from forfeiting a game, i suggested that here -> (157654.1)

As a tie breaker I completely agree.

Every team can set default lineup. There is no way for accidental walkover if he set it.

could but must not ;) And let give us a sitution liek hattrick before some weeks, the server crashed for two days, and many teams have forgotten their cup lineup even when there is a standard lineup too.

Actually that isn't quite correct. For example, the last time I set my "standard" lineup was weeks ago. However since then there have been multiple changes to my roster. So if a team hasn't set a default lineup recently and they have had roster changes then it is quite easy for them to not set a lineup and have a walkover.

but you should change 8 players at minimum to your lineup, to cause default lineup to be less than 3 players. so if you're doing such a major change, please be kind and keep in mind to set default lineup when you're finished. this would be a stupid excuse "i sold and bought players, so i didn't set default lineup"...

on topic. if you still feel that this needs to be fixed, even if it isn't broken, how about just giving one relegation game for 6th and 7th place instead of a series until 2 wins?

I think that makes it way too harsh for 6th and 7th. Too many people will be unluckily relegating.

Simply having no salary to pay during the offseason would solve all these problems.
