Exactly ! And that's exactly why people want secondary FT training when training shooting skills. And that should be implemented since this simulations aims to be realistic. I think all agree on this.
Agree on what? That users should never have to train their players in FT and yet the players would still get better at FT shooting? Have you read this thread? Clearly there are people who don't agree that secondary FT training for JS or JR training should be implemented.
As I see it, the reason why some people want secondary FT train is largely because they want to continue to simplify the game and take as much strategy and work out of it as possible. The designers have already done that once recently by putting in the silly 10% cross-training feature because so many complained about all the cookie cutter players who were trained in just 2 or 3 skills. It was the easy fix rather than improving the GE so that such non-realistic players behave more in the way they would in reality - which is to say not be that great of a player. Improving the game engine to more greatly reward users who more fully train their players would have been a much better solution in my opinion. But we all know the issues with getting GE improvements.
The entire training system in BB is not designed or intended to be realistic. That much is obvious. Players only get better based on the position they play in games and the amount of minutes they get each week? Nothing realistic about it at all. But it is a design choice that forces an element of strategy into the overall game. In order for a player to improve at something, you may need to play him out of position, which will hurt your team's performance in the game. That creates a decision point the users must consider. Here people want to lessen that by making it so they can avoid doing what is currently one of the easiest types of training to do, since the entire team benefits and it doesn't require anyone to play out of position. All because they simply can't give up that one or two weeks of training a season as they are try to develop their next cookie cutter monstrosity.
Would any real world player shoot 0% from the free throw line? No. Would any real world professional basketball player not have practiced shooting free throws for hundreds, if not thousands, of hours? No. Is having an player with atrocious FT skill shoot 0% unrealistic? Definitely. Is it an easy thing for a user to fix in the current game design? Absolutely. So no need to change the game design, in my opinion.
And yes, I have played, coached and taught basketball. But feel free to continue your ad hominem attacks. They are kinda funny.
