On to the next round.

After a grueling battle against the highly touted USA and some thrilling moments against Egypt last night, we are now going to the second round of the World Championship. I was expecting the team to finish to finish 2nd in the group behind the highly favored Italian Team. But a surprising Italian loss to a "crunched timed" USA last night placed us at a much higher standing at 4-1 going into the next round. USA and Italia now has a 3-2 win-loss card.

Though a bit late, here are the recaps of the game against USA and Egypt:

Pilipinas U21 106 - USA U21 92

Our big guys were unstoppable of which all four scoring double figures. Theo del Castillo once again imposed his will against USA's big men who could only foul him as he demolished each one guarding him. Oropesa who havent seen much minutes during their previous matches burned USA for 19 points despite playing off the bench and relieving del Castillo.

Seems like a de javu from the last World Championship where Almario Ejercito(the top center then) demolished USA inside in route to a 15 point Pilipinas win.

Pilipinas U21 103 Misr U21 79

We expected an easy game but an Egypt playing normal gave us a lot of trouble early in the first half. Their Center Kaleel Yousif was unstoppable the whole game torching our team with his 28points on 14-15 shooting clip and houling 15 rebounds. He also held del Castillo to 6 points on a 2-11 shooting from the field. But our guards made the difference this time. Scoring when baskets when it most counts. Top Guard Gavino Jaranilla was fouled out of the game midway in the 2nd quarter but reliever Stephan Patrick carried the scoring cudgels for Pilipinas. It was a close game till early in the 4th quarter as Pilipinas only led by 3. Back to back 3 pointers by del Valle and Patrick broke the game open as Pilipinas scored 31 points in the 4th quarter alone against Egypt's 16.

Philippines U21 77, Lietuva U21 65

Hard fought win for the Team Pilipinas. Lietuva making their usual presence from the outside, gave our guards headaches as thier 60K and above guards burned the hoop. Big Man Wu Yingran carried the team this time, top scoring for Pilipinas with 20pts and hauling in 16rebs. With our guards struggling to make their shots our big guys muscled their way as Lietuva's team had difficulties containing them. Lietuva had their moment in the 3rd quarter as they closed the gap erasing our 7 point lead by the end of the quarter. Our players came back strong in the 4th quarter shattering Lietuva's hope for a win.

Hours nalang at malilipat na ang U21 Management sa mananalong candidate.

Despite the pressure of handling the U21 Team, still its been a pleasure for me.

Salamat sa mga tumulong sa akin sa dalawang season na ito. Kina ghazny, Don Manoah, Jepoi, JSmoove, Cezz, krunchy, kobe, Coach Brian, Dusty at sa iba pa na naging bahagi at nag gugol ng kanilang panahon sa U21 Team natin.

As always, I will support kung sino man ang magiging bagong manager ng U21 natin.

Sana magpatuloy pa ang pamamayagpag ng Pilipinas.

Mabuhay tayong lahat!

im against foreigner but im not against the result of election,, so for us to trust and respect another foreigner,, dont just throw our trust in you,, your work is equivalent of work of another foreigner,, SHOW what u have,, pressure is in ur side,, hehe

salamat din sa yo harm at umabot tayo sa semis sa worlds duplicating what lia cruz did during her reign.at least may idea ako kung gaano kahirap magdala ng u21 natin :L)
