Our first announcement is an addition to the tactics page. BuzzerBeater coaches have discovered that, if they can correctly predict which strategy an opposing team will use, they can get in some last-minute practice and be stronger on the court. You’ll be given the option to predict your opponent’s strategy for a game -- if you guess correctly, your team will get a nice boost against that tactic for the game; however, if you’re wrong, your team won’t perform as well. Of course, you will still have the option of not making a specific prediction, in which case nothing will change. The coaches have suggested that this will help teams compete against opponents with one, dominant strategy.


Teams are arbitrarily penalised for playing the same tactic each game. I don't understand why this should be the case, if someone wants to play the same tactic each week they shouldn't be subjected to a penalty. Thumbs down for this one.


Don't think of it as a penalty... it's like team strategic homework, if you know what to expect from a team, even if you can't FULLY overcome it, you can certainly do better against the easily predictable than you could if it was a surprise.
I think this is a fairly realistic new feature. It's not a punishment at all for anyone playing the same tactic, it's a little bonus for those that guess right.


Doesn't this already exist naturally in the game though? If your opponent plays the same tactic each week you're able to set your team accordingly. I'm not convinced that a bonus for guessing right (key word being guessing) really adds anything to the game. I certainly can't see that it's an improvement.

I guess we'll have to just wait and see hoe much of a 'bonus'.

Personally, I like most of the changes and I think the face change thing is a cool touch. They aren't massive changes but it's nice to see BB doing something...

I can't see this being used by the stronger team as there would be no reason to risk the penalty of guessing incorrectly. I see it mainly being used by the weaker team trying to get a bit of a bonus against their stronger opponent it's worth the risk for them if they think they will lose anyway).

yer thats right - i guess their idea is that the want more people to 'bluff' their opponent.
hah... Look Inside again ... or maybe not!
suddenly the opposition defence crumbles and your generally 'medicore' outside offensive is improved.

lots of people were asking for the value of JR to be improved (or the salary component, or the training speed)
other people wanted SB to be more effective and the 2-3 zone to be changed.

They did the SB change, but really, i think thats done SFA.

So i tihnk they decided that instead of trying to drastically change the internal mechanics of the game, just boost the existing mechanics - but only if you guess right.
So now SB is better and 2-3 will be imrpvoed... but only if you guess right :)

So thats the logic that they are trying to do.

if teams are able to come out and say 'yup i bluffed him into a 2-3 zone and then i played motion and i kicked his ass', then really it will be a HUGE step into eliminating the whole constant LI-M2M aspect of the game.

I'm guessing it's too hard for them to mess with the existing code. It just looks like they've taken the easy way out and added a patch job solution that's easy to implement. Not surprising considering the total lack of development over the last three years.

its probably more the on-flow of changing base elements in the game.

If you totally changed the Look Inside engine, then maybe it would just lead to say, Motion becoming the choice offence for everyone. and then you end up with the same problem. You would be forever changing the game as users found out the best way to play it.

Nah doesnt appear to be the case.

Believe it or not there have been exactly the same amounts of wins as there have been losses so far this season

Just because my team is last doesnt mean that I have been tanking
