Given the standings in our group, monday will most likely be our last game in the tournament.
I'm a bit disappointed because I feel we could have done better with another schedule and better tactical choices from myself.
Anyways, monday might then be the last game of our 21yo players so I hope this will be a nice game to watch !

See you on monday

7th game : Bulgaria (5-2) 134 - 76 Cyprus (0-7)

The word of the MVP : Lyuben Dilov (20pts at 82% 3rbd 7ast)
"So I guess that's it... It was my last game with these guys. I'm happy it ends with a nice victory but we can't hide our disappointement. We were so close from the qualification !
On a more personal point of view, I've been struggling with my game shape in the beginning of the season... Now that it is back I can finally show my potential ! Next step will be to join the NT, one day I hope.
For the U21, I think they have a bright future ! Half of the team was already made of 20yo players, I'm sure they'll do great next season.
Thanks to everyone for your support ! Take care"

Review of the season - U21 European Championship Tournament

Here is a little summary of our journey in this European Tournament, which ended last monday.

Final ranking of our first phase pool

1-Israel U21 7-0 (+283)
2-France U21 5-2 (+161)
3-Bulgaria U21 5-2 (+98)
4-Latvija U21 5-2 (+67)
5-Ireland U21 3-4 (-48)
6-Shqipëria U21 2-5 (-246)
7-Ukraina U21 1-6 (-96)
8-Cyprus U21 0-7 (-219)

Global analysis

Even if we managed to finish 2 places higher than what I first predicted, there is a bit of disappointment to come so close to qualifying.
When I say "so close", it might be exagerated, considering I did all I could to maximize our Point Average and we were still 63 points behind France, who ended with a TIE, which they might not have done if we were closer to their PA.
Our only chance would have been to beat France or Israel during our direct confrontations, but the gap was a bit too big this season, and the risks I took didn't work. Also, we should remember that half of the team was made of 20yo players, which isn't the case of these top nations.
Another good thing is we already gained 10 places in world ranking, being now 37th.

Season rewards

First team :
PG : Antoan Sheytanov (7 games played - 6,6pts at 41% 2,6rbd 3,7ast)
SG : Marian Gotzev (7 games played - 12,3pts at 37% 1,9rbd 4,7ast - MVP of 6th game)
SF : Kiril Yochev (7 games played - 14,7pts at 44% 5,3rbd 1,3ast - MVP of 5th game)
PF : Varban Kratunkov (7 games played - 17,1pts at 45% 10,3rbd 2,4ast - MVP of 1st game)
C : Stoyan Kenarov (7 games played - 6,7pts at 41% 7,9rbd 0,4ast)
6th man : Nedim Göksu (5 games played - 7,1pts at 53% 5,1rbd 1,6ast - MVP of 4th game)

MVP : Varban Kratunkov

What's next

I will scout once again all of our 18 to 20 yo prospects and select the top 18 in order to prepare for next season.
It starts on monday with a scrimmage against Nederlands U21, which will be hosted by the Snatch, as a little reward for his training and game shape management of our MVP Varban Kratunkov.

Thanks everyone for your support. I hope next season will be even more successful !

The first scrimmage went pretty well, showing that we can face a top 25 team. I proposed a rematch to the coach of Nederlands so that we can learn a bit more about our roster.
Don't worry about the defense ratings, we (and our opponent) had a TS of 1, given I scouted every young Bulgarians this weekend.

I might write a post more specifically about it, but if anyone of you wants to join me, that would be really appreciated. I need help with training plan follow up (I didn't get many answers after I contacted every manager, and the fact that I can't speak bulgarian might not help). Also a bit of scouting on the transfer market could be useful.

I can help with this part. I already have a scouting script.

With some minor adjustments it will keep track of all 18-21yo, 6+ pot players that appear on the market and take photos of their SS atm. Will make sure I send you those, say every month?

Thanks! :D

I didn't realize the game has being played at my arena until I read this post.
Next season, feel free to contact me if there should be any interesting 18 year olds for sale.

:)

Well in fact I made a slight mistake with your team ID and the game has been played in another italian (bot) team...
It will be fixed on a next scrimmage ;)

And thanks for your offer ! I'll send you a bb mail early next season with our young draftees on sale

Hello everyone,

Just a little review of the last scrimmages.

We started with two tight wins against the Netherlands (World Ranking 26).
I already wrote about the first game. Before the second one, we faced Nehir's injury but still managed to win with an LP against an inside box.

Then we've just been defeated twice by England (World Ranking 23), again with really tight games.
The first game was with Nehir out of shape, Göksu injured before the game and Yotzov injured in the first qt... I'm quite confident we could have won with a bit more of luck.
Second game was with most of our interiors being out of shape while the guards were in good shape. I wanted to try outside offense + 3-2, my mistake was to compensate it with an inside gdp against a motion. But it was interesting to see we may lack rebound at the moment to be really confident with a 3-2.

Even if we have a very low enthusiasm and we faced some injuries, I think these first scrimmages were quite interesting.
Given we lack true SF at the moment, even more with Boyadzhiev not being well trained since he's been sold, I've been able to try different lineups and see how and when it could work.
Also, we can simply understand that we're close to the level of the top 20-25 nations of the world. It gives some good hopes for next consolation tournament.

I wish you all a good season ending !
