You've actually missed the point of this exercise. Regardless of whether its my team or another team, the team being mentored would be doing all of the work.

Researching their opponents, reporting on their team, handling all the training. That would all be done by the team being mentored.

The mentor(s) would simply be guiding the mentee in areas that perhaps they hadn't considered.

For example, I have a very nice 18 year old point guard that is 6' 2" I had hoped that this player would have a use on the u21 team. One of the more experienced managers here in this game pointed out to me that my player has atrocious rebounding. It never occurred to me that a PG would need rebounding. It also never occurred to me that it would take him longer to learn rebounding because he was shorter. The more experienced manager indicated to me that it was a toss up. Do I focus on his PG skills for training, OS, Handling, knowing that as a club player, I really don't need this particular player to have much rebounding. Or do I attempt to tack on a few levels of rebounding to make him a more viable u21 player. It was a choice that I had to make. it wasn't a choice that the more experienced manager got to make for me.

That is a small example of how discussions can help newer managers. Give us a chance to think of things that we would not have otherwise considered. Every once in awhile, those newer managers can come around to think of things too but it helps if you've got some perspective on the impact that it might have on the game.

This is a good idea. So are you offering to be the community mentee?

Count me in. Though I assume that the goal is to have many managers offering their advise and opinions.

Ice Storm should become a mentee too, and all key decisions will be decided by community vote

I'd probably be more successful when it actually counts. :)

Okay, so tomorrow cuz I'm tired and headed to bed now, I'll write up a little something about my team. Where I think I am, what I think I have been doing, what I think about my league and some ideas of goals.

Additionally, I will post information about my team such as players and their stats, finances, arena info, etc.

If after that, you all feel that my team is too far removed from what a typical newbie team faces, I'll be happy to bow out and let another newbie benefit from the guidance.

Installment #1

Who we are?
The X-steppers have been around since season 5. I was surprised at this, it feels longer. We never really started training anything until the end of Season 6. I had a couple of older guards that I thought I was improving but got some pointers from Stogey and started over.

Our standing in our League:

We're currently sitting at 17-2 in IV.18. IV.18 feels like a weak league with absolutely no activity on the forums. We're the only team actively managing enthusiasm but not the only team training and scheduling scrimmages. So there's hope that the league could become more competitive. As it stands now, I pretty much win at will. The two losses came early in the season while I was in the cup and still trying to figure out how to get 48 minutes of training for 5 players.

Staff:

Doctor is a level 1 collecting $2681.00 in wages
PR is a level 4 collecting $12,365 in wages
Trainer is a level 5 collecting $29,464 in wages

*I've been actively attempting to purchase a higher level trainer but this new bidding system has been frustrating my efforts to get one on the cheap.

Economy:

Cash: $163,000.00
Weekly profit: 57,000 (league average: 22k)

Expenses: Salaries 57k, Staff 44.5k, Scouting 20K
Revenue: 129k attendance, 14k merchandise, 35k TV

Roster: (actual player attributes will come in installment #2)

11 players for $57,380. My #1 trainee and best player receives $13,236

Arena: Total Capacity 8605 broken down as follows:

7500 bleachers @ $10.00 per seat
1000 Lower Tier @ $35.00 per seat
100 Courtside @ $150.00 per seat
5 Luxury Boxes @ 800.00

I adjusted my pricing to these levels in May because at $11.00 and $42.00 I was not consistantly selling out the bleachers or Lower tier. The new pricing resulted in a total sell out.
