Hilarious! I will certainly have another Coke tonight, it is quite hot here and while I watch Homeland I will undoubtably have a Coke.

Having a 4th as we write! Digusting! Revoltingly overindulgent! Ahhh...tastes so good! LOL

I joke but it's serious. Coke is such a destructive liquid. By next friday I'll be talking up the taste of water...just you wait!

I am over 13 months now without a beer.. so my attitude is simply if i can do that, i can do anything!

I have 3 golden rules that i am living by at the moment and it is paying dividends..

1) No fried foods.. period..
2) No soft drink. Numerous studies around the world have results that show people who drink diet soft drink, are more prone to obesity than those who drink full soft drink..
3) Nothing from a packet. No chips, no lollies nothing..

So far, i have been really successful with that swap, dont stop program.. if i want a snack, i eat carrot or celery.. all i drink is water.. i might have the occasional port or scotch after dinner, but that is rare...

It is funny, it is the very excuses we come up with not to excercise, such as injuries, that should be the driving force behind us exercising.. I know for a fact, if i drop a few pounds, and increase core strength like Vis said, then my back issues will be minimal!

All for starting a fitness thread, I am riding anywhere between 4-6km a day at the moment and average about 4mins to a kilometre.. already that has come down half a minute! 4km doesnt sound like a lot... but damn i dont know many guys 132kg that could even get on a bike!

If you have a smart phone, get myfitnesspal.. it is a great app to help control what you are eating!

Awesome stuff, Skyhookz. We know it makes sense; we know what it takes to get healthy; we just choose not to do it.

Alright...a fitness thread. Where to open it and how will it function?

I'm thinking it could even be opened in the Fishbowl links so all can see and access it. This way, we know it will be avalaiable for some time despite teams relegating and promoting. Ideas?

It could be opened with a brief statement about its function (ie. This is a thread where those willing to document their daily fitness activities or goals etc etc)

???

I was thinking something like this:

As a result of discussions between several Fishbowl members, it has been decided to create this thread. This thread is meant to provide anyone and everyone with an opportunity to record their daily/weekly physical activities. Whether you've walked to the shop or done a marathon; whether you've lifted your child onto your shoulders or lifted weights, your physical activity can be recorded and monitored by yourself and others.

This thread provides a friendly, positive and encoruaging forum for those looking for that extra motivation. Additionally, such a thread could, if the individual wanted, alow for a level of accountability. If you say you're going to do this (actually write it for all to see) you're more likely to actually do it.

what to call the thread?

Just do it!
Thinking healthy.

suggestions? thoughts?

...Iike this thread, talking about fitness can really help everyone.

:)

Look, we could keep this thread or start a new one just for logging in our daily/weekly efforts. It doesn't hav to be full on but a visual reminder (when we check it) of how much effort we are putting in. Just an idea. Sometimes just seeing how much or how little we do is all the motivation one needs.

seriously.... what you've just outlined here...

www.fitocracy.com

just check it out.

LOL Really? I'll check it out then...

EDIT: Just tried to 'request an invite' and it came up with a window saying: 'we will let you know when we are open to the public' ???

I'll try again tomorrow.

I've signed up and checked out your profile, Rad Ranga. I'm under Matty8. I spent 10 minutes or so trying to get accustomed to whats what and I'm still trying to get my head around it. Strangely, I try and add a profile picture (a crazy pic my daughter took a while back) and I get logged out immediately...weird. Not going to give up that easily. I think there might be some issues with what I'm running; I had to go through Google Chrome to sign up originally. Going out for a run shortly (when the weather cools here somewhat...36 today!) and I'll get on and log the details.

Cheers for the link btw.
