you should only ever pay $5000 per scouting point (ie: Max $10k per week) unless you need an extra point or two or do something extra in one week.

I love the draft :)

3 MVP's, 2 Superstars, numerous Per-allstars. I think only season (that i spent points) did my strategy not work for me.

so yer - I love it :)

I've normally been of the same mind as Moose. Last season in the ABBL I figured out early that I was going to tank, so put money into scouting.
I managed to pull in Jack Chan, who is only a superstar but had pretty good starting stats. Hoping to give him a shot at U21 in a couple of season!
Sounds like you've been pretty lucky Regan!

I love the draft as well, and have done pretty well over the years (1 HOF, 1 MVP, 1 SS, 2 PA's). Unfortunately when i first started Buzzerbeater (season 20) I didn't know much about the game. I sold my 19 year old hall of gamer for 190K I guess markets weren't as strong as they are now.

This draft is an interesting one i've been doing 2 points for the whole year and did manage to find a 5/5 player, sorry to anyone who found him as well, as he is my number one pick. I'm excited to see if any HOF's come out of the woodwork.

how many points do you think you have spent so far on this seasons scouting/drafting?

Number of scouted players - 5
Group demonstration - 10
Number of Interviewed players - 6 x 2 = 12
so 27 points, some carried over from last year.

Is that the order in which you performed the actions? Or did you do group demo first and then scout?

Also - how did you determine what players you wanted to interview?

I forget how many seasons I have played this game for now but I maintain my stance that the draft is a waste of money.

Allow me to present my counterpoint...

(25103755)
(25103763)
(28768870)
(30030473)

They all came from the draft, and that's not even counting two other draftees that I sold for good money (one of them fetched 300k!), or the 19yo allstar that I drafted last season and have as a secondary trainee now...

And for the most part that was whilst only spending 10k per week on scouting. I was spending 20k for a couple of seasons when I was trying to find a 5/5 to turn into my franchise player, but once I managed to draft Cicvaric at the end of season 22 (bot league), I came back down to 10k.

Star potential isn't too bad, especially if they're trainable as small forwards. Here's what John Reith looks like now (94-100% potential limit);

Jump Shot: prolific Jump Range: strong
Outside Def.: tremendous Handling: sensational
Driving: prolific Passing: proficient
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: prominent
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: mediocre
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: mediocre

And the guy I sold for 300k actually came to me as an 18yo Starter potential player, who I trained anyway because I didn't have a lot in the way of trainees at the time and didn't want to get involved in bidding wars revolving around the inevitable 'good draftees who get sold for big $$$' craze.

No, group demonstration then i scouted then interviewed.
Generally i interview all 5 star rating players.
I've never really found any correlation between their box scores and potentials, however once all 5 star players have been interviewed ill go on their box score performance relative to their position. If that makes sense. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Out of my 6 interviewed players this season I've found 3 of them have 3 ball ratings one has 4 and the other 2 have 5 ball ratings.

I think the draft is worth it it does increase your chances of a good pick. I was able to make a quick million off my MVP SG back in season 23 i think. and 700k off my C last year. One of the main reasons I was able to win last year with such a cruddy arena was by selling those two off.

It has taken a toll on me this year though as i've based this years revenues on building an arena up to every other teams size.

nope i dont think there is any correlation between box score and potential, BUT, in another selfless plug of my own handiwork, there are relationships between box scores and skill sets.
