Haha well ok thanks for taking time to check it, it wasn't so bad as he only left for 1.5 mins
Good luck for lurking into the GE code, I've worked on big "historic" programs as they say before and it's no picnic

I've been trying to do single position C training this season and unfortunately had issues with my C's getting in to foul trouble and fouling out a lot. This has led me to see the very bizarre substitution patterns where the coach seems to want to put in anyone but the other big man on the bench. He'll put in the benched guards instead.

So, for tonights game i decided to put the benched PF (Lonergan) in to the 2nd sub position so in case the starting C fouled out, Lonergan would come in. Nope, Lonergan had 1 minute at C while the benched guards came on at C for 8 and 10 minutes. Lonergan did come on for the SG though!!

My lineup was:

PG: McArthur | Yasin | blank
SG: Doll | Chowdhary | blank
SF: Phung | Barber | blank
PF: Steeler | Lonergan | blank
C: Schneider | Schneider | Lonergan

Schneider fouled out in 27 minutes.
Chowdhary was injured in just 2 minutes of playing time.
Doll fouled out as well.

Minutes at C:

Yasin: 10 minutes
Barber: 8 minutes
Phung: 1 minute (yes, he even moved from starting SF to play C instead of Lonergan coming on)
Lonergan: 1 minute

Minutes at SG:

Yasin: 2 minutes
Barber: 3 minutes
Lonergan: 5 minutes

This hasn't just been a 1 off either, happened quite a few times this season already due to the foul trouble for my C's and i just cannot work out what the game engine is doing with it substitutions.

I agree that the substitution pattern in those situations (fouling out, injuries) isn't ideal. I'll see what we can do about that. Until then, fill out all the reserve spots too, that seems to help. Also, I checked your lineup and you set Schneider as your reserve too. This means that Lonergan wasn't set as the first reserve choice and therefore was not the first substitute after Schneider fouled out. The coach then proceeded to rotate subs there as he saw fit (the substitution pattern of which wasn't very smart, I agree).

There's definitely room for improvements here so I'll see what we can do about it in one of our next GE revisions.

I would have thought that if the starter and 1st sub were out then it would move to the 3rd sub before taking other players out of position?

and yeah, taking a 10k pg and 30k pg over a 130k PF for the C position definitely seems strange for the coach to do as well.

Anyway, as long as you've added it to your To Do list (a long list i'm sure) then i'm happy enough. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, but in this case the 3rd sub was also Schneider. Therefore he had to go to other players available and had not chosen very well, I'm afraid. That's what we need to and will improve.

This is the first time I have an issue with lineup set. I've had a few in the past, but always though it could have been my own fault. Not remembering to change or something.
I had a peculiar one today. My team played a lineup that I last used 26.3 (checked my scedule for starters). What's even more peculiar that my training at that time matches my current training, so I could have not chosen those backups for tonights game. I actually set the same lineup I used in my last saturdays game (13.4). I rechecked the lineup twise, I even remember changing m2m to 3-2 zone. Suggesting the initial lineup could have been saved from 23.3?
Nothing bad happened as I won the game anyway, but one of my starters missed some minutes (thus got less points and rebounds) and I don't really have good choises for minutes for my scrimmage.
Could you set any light on this one?

Looks like your lineup looks pretty much the same as the 13.4. lineup, with one major difference: the Zapatero and Chauvin switch. on the PF starter position and the SF and PF backup position. There's also a minor change in SF and PF reserves. The 3-2 zone was set just like you said, which proves you made the changes. Also, you have used both versions of the lineups in the past, could it be you just loaded the wrong one when you were setting the one for yesterday?

That's the interesting part, the lineup used would not show up in recent lineups, as it was used too long ago. I have never used a lineup from the "recent lineups" menu as I recall. I only check it in case of "funny" subs or training minutes.
Anyway this boggles my mind and there is nothing else to do than accept it:) I might of set this lineup on 26-th of march or something as an accident. I just can't believe I missed setting my starters and backups twise:(
Even if this was somekind of a bug, it's prolly impossible to track. There is no changing of the game minutes anyway :D Gotta just chulk it up...
