Sounds good, but if there are people opposing the creation 4 extra players for each nation, I can't see them accepting a solution which will create many more every season. It seems like medium nations like Germany are perfectly happy being in limbo (good, but not good enough to win competitions), as long as micros and smaller nations are prevented from catching up even by a fluke.

To me the more competition there is at any level the better and more fun in the game. The BBs and users can't say (without being hypocritical): we want to merge nations because we think more competition between users in their home league is good, but then make the NT level (and possibly the B3 in the future) even less competitive than it is today. If competition is desirable, it applies to every level, so make sure NTs have at least a decent amount of players to pick from OR remove nations who field d3-d4 caliber starters because they can't get worthy trainees.

I think merging micros by time zone would be a good idea. It's not like South African users have more in common with Tunisian users than Welsh or Moldovan users.

However it would probably be best that Wales get merged with Ireland, Scotland and England and Moldova gets merged with Romania IF there is a solution for the NTs and for keeping the local communities going.

I can't say for sure since the BBs never speak about it, but I've speculated in the past that Africa was chosen simply because it was more convenient. No nations above 16 users, not many time zones, and if they upset everyone in Africa, it wouldn't affect the bottom line.

I think you are right: they didn't need to draw the line anywhere, so they didn't need to take a decision on who goes in the merge and who doesn't. Every single nation clearly fit any criteria you could pick.

I think that if they find a way to find a solution that works for the NT and U21 they could do the same for many small nations by merging them with nations which make sense also for other reasons (like Moldova and Romania or Wales and England). I don't know, but to me the community in this game is mostly built around U21/NT and national forums. As long as you keep (or strengthen) all of those then you will have taken out very little out of the game for micronation users.

But the time to address the U21/NT worries is now, S39, not in 5 seasons. Announce something mid season as draftees are created and implement it starting with the next draft. There are plenty of solutions possible, just pick one and go with it. Changing a player's nationality flag should be very easy.
