Round 9 offered again some important and interesting games/results.

SUM-EOS 85-94:
Quite possibly (at least one of the) biggest win of EOS in it's HGL history, beating high quality opponent SUM by 9 (and leading no less than 30 before 4th quarter). At least for me this counts as a surprise win (at least to some extent), but being as clear win as it was (especially considering situation after 3 quarters of play), it's a great proof of strengthening of EOS team. Box score wise, no huge differences between these two teams, but EOS shot slightly better from the field, and was able to guess SUM's tactics perfectly.

LMS-VIV 129-114:
Both teams at 4W-4L before this important match, that almost turned into a free throw contest (25 and 38 attermpts) both teams took care of the ball well (4 and 5 TO's). LMS though shot bit better from the field (48 to 42%), and had an advantage of 9 rebounds in a match.

VPO-ED 102-82:
Had to include this match to report, as someone finally was able to score a three pointer against ED; they had a two game streak of 0 allowed 3 pointers! This was also a match of clinical free throw shooting: VPO 17/17 and ED 19/20.

HAD-LGM 93-81:
LGM was able to put up a very respectable fight against always strong HAD, and this was the smallest winning margin of the season for HAD. While it wasn't a tight match in terms of winning, we all know how strong team HAD is so these kind of performances also are worth noting sometimes. HAD was again very strong in rebounds (53-29 advantage) and in blocks (6-0), so even mishandling the ball 13 times (against 8 by LGM) and shooting worse behind the 3 point arc didn't cause HAD a loss.

KKS-TRO 109-82:
This was an offensive rebound show: 22-15 to TRO! Offensive flow was much higher on KKS's side though (ratings KKS's 9 to TRO's 5) and KKS had 37-11 assist to turnover ratio, while TRO's numbers were 17-17. KKS was also dominating in blocks (13 to 2) and in FG% (53 to 35%).

One crucial issue I've been having lately is that my scoring leader Maksimavičius was injured. Some really painful losses followed where I could have expected positive results with a full roster.

Finally, Maksimavičius is close to being healthy, and I hope that his form comes back as fast as possible for me to reach the PO stage!

Nice again. I can say that the quality of the league is improving and I'm happy about that. As for salaries, I'm not trying to control it. My team is financially well-off, I can easily spend more than a million on salaries and it won't hurt me financially.

That's a very good point ( I didn't actually pay attention to that), and that kind of injury affects a lot against even/high quality opposition. It's also true that game shape is very important in terms of player performance levels, so while I like it that injuries affect game shape (as it's realistic), they sometimes return to optimal painfully slow...

Thanks! I'm also happy about that (even though my own team isn't improving with highest rate, so it won't mean good to my own success chances but it's necessary to see this from a wider perspective, and added competitiveness and raise of skill levels of teams is definitely a positive news).

I'm glad to hear you've got some money to spend (I wish I could say the same...), and it'll be interesting to see what kind of Top8-salary record of HGL you will set in forthcoming seasons!
(Yes, we can keep a record on some of these "all time special statistics", if some people want to gather them - as you all can see, I'm running behind already on gathering team stats and updating transfers and salary benefit posts, so as much as I'd like to compile additional stats/records, I don't think I can take much added work as I'm already struggling to some extent on keeping up with this level of statistical information).

Thank you Jotadoce, excellent decision! It's great to have a Spanish team in HGL... I also hope we'll have some local competition in HGL one day - perhaps in a form of LOPO_ (manager of Eliocroca CB), who has established 'Homegrown teams'-thread? :) According to his much appreciated HG-teams listing, there does seem to be also 3 other HG teams in Spain...

The Kings are still too young, too weak...

...but we continue to train, continue to prepare, continue to dream...

Well, you'll get there - probably sooner, as it now feels. And if you change your mind, there's an 18th spot open for HGL Season 4.
As mentioned before, I'd consider it more optimal to have an equal number of teams instead of odd number of teams and currently we have 17 teams for Season 4 (as Alanurmon Rikkaat will join us for Season 4), if Suuret Muinaiset and Hårdboll will decide to keep on playing on HGL Season 4. This way also every team would play on every Round...
